I don't have a favorite director but I do like the works of Quentin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg. I like Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Part 1 & 2. Spielberg is always good with movies of epic proportion like Schindler's List and Close Encounters.

It's a tie between Tim Burton and John Hughes. There is a certain kind of genius in both their films. There really hasn't been another movie from any other director/producer like Edward Scissorhands, in terms of the story, the aesthetics, the casting...all amazing. And Edward Scissorhands isn't the only Burton films that remains unparalleled. Scoff if you will but Beetlejuice is definitely on that list. Ed Wood. Big Fish. John Hughes was an equally brilliant man. Although his films were not of the same unique quality as Burton's because of their plots but they still stand a head and shoulders above their peers. The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Uncle Buck... I defy anyone to scroll through the list of films Hughes directed, wrote and/or produced and not find a movie they enjoyed. You may not find one of your favorites on the list but I'd be amazed if anyone could honestly say they didn't enjoy at least one of those fabulous films.
