Yuppies is a new terminology used in the academy. Would you like to take a guess at what it means?

Young urban professionals. It's actually been around for a while but the description still fits the bill.

Gosh! And I thought I discovered a new word like hippies of the 60s. I actually read it in a school proposal. I was a bit bothered because it didn't seem like the language of the academe.

I hated to be called a yuppie before because it rhymed with yucky. But I guess it's okay now that I'm to be called a yuppie.

Congratulations then. I was surprised myself when I read it in a school work. But I guess language has a way of transforming unbecoming words into formal and accepted lingo. Yuppie is not so bad actually. Kinda denotes glee when you think about it.
