Forex: First time I see a gap happening in the currency market!

Trading gap - The term "gap" is used to describe the condition when a stock opens at higher or lower price than it closed the prior day. Gaps create voids that are left in the daily chart by leaving an empty space from the prior day's close to the current day's open.

What causes gaps? Most of the time gaps are created from a news-driven event.

I have been exploring the currency charts to better my knowledge for investments. And the past few months of poring over the past two years of data, I have never seen anything like this before. The term "gap" is used to describe the condition when a stock opens at higher or lower price than it closed the prior day. Gaps create voids that are left in the daily chart by leaving an empty space from the prior day's close to the current day's open. What causes gaps? Most of the time gaps are created from a news-driven event. Now, gaps are fairly common in stocks as people tend to trade them based on news of take over, acquisition, company's financial health... etc etc But for the currency market, where liquidity cannot be controlled by any one party alone, it is an anomaly. That is why I am so surprise when I see the gap happening in the USD/JPY currency pairs. I rarely follow the news of late. So I am wondering, what in the world happened to cause the USD to weaken in the past few weeks? What happened over the weekend to cause this gap? Anyone have any ideas?

Well well, there's nothing much i can do to help out here.. hehe ^_^ From my guess, it might be due to 911 instead?? Other than that, there might be alot more reasons to why USD are on the drop, for they are a lone currency, without any support.. UNlike, euros, which is make up of several countries, thus making it stable.. hehe ^_^ OR maybe something is happening in hapan instead?? haha =D I really have got no idea at all!! hehe
