What does a real friend mean to you?

For me, a real friend is someone who knows your song and sings it to you when you have forgotten it. He/She is someone who is not pushed away by mistakes you have made or by dark images you hold about yourself. He/She remembers your beauty when you feel that you are ugly, your wholeness when you are broken or shattered to pieces, your innocence when you are guilty, and your purpose when you are confused.

A real friend is more than a friend to me. They are family. I look to my friends for strength and guidance, and I have to say that my real friends are more honest and won't lie to me, just to spare my feelings because they know I want to know the truth and how they really feel about things.

To me a real friend is someone who sticks by you through thick and thin. They are a person who you can share you inner most fears, dreams and thoughts with. They are someone you can vent to if you have had a bad day, someone that you know will listen no matter how many times you tell them the same story. They are someone who loves you for who you are not the way you dress or act. A real friend is someone who likes you and never asks you to change. A REAL friend is someone that you know that you can count on, someone who is always there for you no matter the situations. I have only three friends that I would consider my REAL friends and that is because despite my personality, which isn't always easy to get along with, my problems and the occational bad temperment display, they have always been there for me and I know that they always will be. That is why I always do my best to be there for them, to listen when needed, to give advice only when asked and to just plain support them. I love these people as if they were family and in some ways they really are, they are my REAL friends.
