The win was good, but the team has to get its act together. The fielding was absolute crap. The match could have been wrapped up much earlier if it was not for the poor fielding. We need to be more consistent if we are to be No.1. Anyway, all's well that ends well. Congrats to the team!

Hey rgmuthu Really it is very good news for all of us. India has again proved that they have the capability to win any odd match with any odd team. There is no doubt about MSD's captaincy skill. Several times he has proved. The master blaster sachin's role can not be ignored his 138 runs really superb. I wish all success for Team India. pkc3000

India at last managed to win a final and in the process also won the Compaq Cup with great style by beating the hosts Sri Lanka quite comprehensively in their own backyard. India rode on a masterly 138 off just 133 balls from the Little Master himself to score a competitive 319 for 6. This was Sachin Tendulkar's 44 century. Along with Sachin's magnificent century, India was propelled by the captain's well timed half-century who promoted himself to the number three slot and a cameo by Yuvraj Singh down the order. Yuvi scored yet another half-century (56 not out) for India in more than a run a ball. India toyed with their batting order by brining in Rahul Dravid to open along with Sachin. This change was prompted due the failure of Dinesh Kartik in both the previous matches. But this proved to be fruitful change as India got off to a good start. India reached 50 runs by the 10th over without losing any wicket. As both Dravid and Sachin seemed to be posting a century-run stand, Dravid perished at cover being caught by Dilshan off Jayasuriya. He made 39 and the first wicket fell at 95. Dhoni came in one down and gave good company to Sachin, who was in his elements in this match. Sachin reached his 44th century by cutting Mendis to sweeper cover. Both Sachin and Dhoni kept pace with the good run-rate and kept scoring without taking any risk and saw India past the 200 run mark. Finally M S fell to Malinga for 56. Yuvraj followed next. And runs started flowing once again. As usual Yuvraj punished short balls and hit to and over the fence. He completed his half-century by a good four. India finally managed to reach a competitive score of 319 for 5. Sri Lanka on their part started the reply quite well and seemed that they would over-haul the target easily. But some tight bowling ensured that it would not be. Some fielding and catching mayhem ensured that India would be staring at defeat in yet another final. The 7th wicket stand of 70 runs gave India some difficult moments. Finally it was Suresh Raina who gave India the much-needed breakthrough and then there was no looking back till it was 10 down for the Islanders. But the real hero with the ball proved to be Bhajji who grabbed yet another 5 wicket-haul.
