United States

Check your fridge for the listed Eggo Waffles. I don't know if this has been on the news or not as I don't usually get to watch it in my house I'm afraid. But I thought I'd pread the word if anyone else had not heard http://babyparenting.about.com/b/2009/09/08/eggo-waffles-recalled-due-to-listeria.htm

Thank you for posting this since there are people out there that does not get to see much of the news like me. Fortunately I have not purchased any eggo waffles lately, as usually I do for my children.

It may be wise to hold off for a lil while then on your next purchase or buy a different brand or buy your own waffle iron and make them yourself ;0)

According to the report they were recalling the cinnamon toast flavor. They said that they never made it to the stores though.

The cinnamon eggo waffles that looked like mini toasts is what my children liked the best, but I do not plan on buying any frozen waffles for now. My children will just have to stick with cold or hot cereals until this all passes over and I know that everything is safe again.

I didn't hear about this one. I'll have to read the report. This is just great since I have about 6 boxes of Eggo Waffles in my freezer right now.

*LOL* Yeah.... I doubt that! They probably want to hang onto their stock a lil longer til the factory is sanitary again. Don't want empty shelves @ the grocery store, another product might boot them

I checked my freezer and we only have the plain kind. Thank goodness. No wonder Eggo's have been on sale a lot lately.

I have never bought any eggos or any other kind of waffles. Not to long ago there was a discussion about bacteria in pancake mixes that have set on the shelf too long. too. I make my own waffles and freeze them .It is much cheaper and I know what goes into them. It seems that as we are supposed to be progressing in food safety it seems to go backwards a lot. I don't remember any food recalls years ago like we have today.

I have seen these in our supermarkets but they are horrifically expensive so I have never bought any or tried any to eat. and now I am glad. Sometimes , it is better to eat plain old plain old. We don't know how dangerous they could be to our bodies. This is actually very scary. Many thanks for the information. I will steer clear of them and it won't be just because of the price!!!

Luckily we have generic-brand Eggo waffles in our freezer. . Do we know why they were recalled in the first place?

We have generic as well ;0) Can't afford for all the fancy marketing on this end. A "Georgia Department of Agriculture lab test found listeria monocytogenes in an Eggo waffle sample and as a result, Kellogg's has temporarily shut the plant down to find the source and begin sanitizing procedures." It doesn't say when it was found exactly though....

Wow, there are so many product recalls this year! I wonder why so much of our food is being contaminated? It's scary even to eat these days.
