We can discuss on the meaning of this Sura and Why it is called um-alkitab? What are its various names? Virtues of Al-Fatiha? Fatiha and prayer? Bismillah in the first ayah of Fatiha? Bismillah aloud in prayer? Meaning of Ar-rahman,Ar-raheem? Meaning of Al-hamd? Meaning Of Al-Alamin? Meaning Of Yawm-Ad-Din(the day of judgment)? Allah is Al-Malik(King or Owner) Fatiha indicates the necessity of praising Allah. It is required in every prayer? The faithful ask for and abide by guidance. Saying AMIN. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sura is called Al-Fatiha i.e The opener of the book, with which prayers are begun. In an authentic hadith recorded by At-Tirmidhi Abu huraira(R.A) said that messenger of Allah(PBUH) said : Al-hamd be to Allah, the lord of the worlds. is the mother of the Quran, the mother of the book, and the seven repeated ayah of the glorious quran. It is also called Al-hamd and As-Salah because prophet(pbuh) said that his lord said the Prayer(Al-fatiha)is divided into two halves. When the slave says -All praise is due to Allah, the lord of the worlds.Allah says "my servant has praised me". Al-Fatiha was called salah because reciting it is a condition for correctness of prayer-salah.It is Also called as Ash-Shifa(The cure). ------------------------------------------------------------to be continue..

Hello ford_mts, Thank you for the Post, However I would Like to say that this kind of discussions is suitable for those who are already Muslims, and since the majority here are non-Muslims you ought to provide some details for the Non-Muslim readers, Perhaps you realize that so you wrote "to be continued" at the end of your Post. [001:001] In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. [001:002] Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, [001:003] The Beneficent, the Merciful. [001:004] Master of the Day of Judgment, [001:005] Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. [001:006] Show us the straight path, Amen Al-Fatiha (the opining) is the First Chapter in the Holy Quran, it is necessary to read it in every prayer, a prayer without reading Al-Fatiha is not valid, according to a Hadith: On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: A prayer performed by someone who has not recited the Essence of the Qur'an (Al-Fatiha) during it is deficient (and he repeated the word three times), incomplete. Someone said to Abu Hurayrah: [Even though] we are behind the imam? ( i.e. standing behind the imam (leader) listening to him reciting al-Fatihah.) He said: Recite it to yourself, for I have heard the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be up on him) say: "Allah (mighty and sublime be He), had said: 'I have divided prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves, and My servant shall have what he has asked for. When the servant says: 'Al-hamdu lillahi rabbi l-alamin' "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds." Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: 'My servant has praised Me. And when he says: 'Ar-rahmani r-rahim' "The Merciful, the Compassionate." Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: 'My servant has extolled Me, and when he says: 'Maliki yawmi d-din' "Master of the Day of Judgement." Allah says: 'My servant has glorified Me' and on one occasion He said: 'My servant has submitted to My power. And when he says: 'Iyyaka na budu wa iyyaka nasta in' "It is You we worship and it is You we ask for help." He says: 'This is between Me and My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for. And when he says: 'Ihdina s-sirata l- mustaqim, siratal ladhina an amta alayhim ghayril-maghdubi alayhim wa la d-dallin' "Guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favors, not of those against whom You are angry, nor of those who are astray." He says: 'This is for My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for. From Quodsi Hadiths, Hadith no; 8 Happy Ramadhan, Best Regards

Oops, the Last verse [001:007] is Missing, [001:007] The path of those whom Thou hast favoured; Not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.

Brother I thought of teaching the first sura then second then third in depth sp that there will be a copy of the quran on this discussion and any bosy can access it whenever needed. And of most important we can have a Question and Answer on this and clarify to the people who are having doubt.I felt this is a good way to do da'wa on this site.Even if we could not get many people there is no problem in that.Inshallah in future someone who finds the information useful will visit this discussion regularly. Before starting this forum I thought that this discussion will be heavy even though I started it thinking at least there will be someone who will read it. Hope brother you too will visit this discussion and help me in propagating the teaching of quran. I first made the emphasis on the topic so that people who are willing to make response or have doubt in it may post a comment. And then step by step post the matter in it so that question will circulate within the topic and it will be easy for me to response and revise what I have studied. Jazakalla Khair.
