An Interesting Observation. What Do You Think?

Recently I purchased a CD of music by Goran Bregovic, from Serbia. For those not familliar with Goran Bregovic, he's a Serbian-Croatian band leader/rockstar (Serbian mother, Croatian father) and instead of using distorted electric guitars, pounding bass rhythems, and other painful elements of North American rock music, he uses old brass instruments retired from the military, and drums that keep a beat, but not the kind that you can really feel. While the "singers" (and I use the term somewhat loosely) shout, they don't scream. His newest album "Alkohol" is a celebration of alcohol, not as a drug to get hooked on, but as something to drink at a party, responsibly, when you're having fun with friends. Know what I mean? It's FUN!! It's a very FUN album.
One of the reasons why I appreciate this one is that I can listen to it on a high volume on my headphones, and totally drown out the traffic around me, when I'm sitting outside at the coffee shop. I can drown out sirens, and motorcycles with his music, and not give myself a headache. You won't get me within 100 feet of typical "rock" of North America, because of the instruments.
The conclusion I finally came to is that Bregovic's music is not as "VIOLENT" as the rock I grew up with. The instruments are sedate instruments played in a wild manner, whereas the guitars are just plain violent in their distortion, and don't get me started on some of the lyrics. Also, every time a car blasts by, with the pounding beat that I can feel in my chest, it makes me want to physically defend myself. Know what I'm saying? No that feeling of "someone just hit me, and by reflex I turned around and got him?" It is a physical invasion, whereas Bregovic's music can be played at obscenely loud volumes, without really affecting the world around it.
Go on youtube, and look for something by Goran Bregovic. There is a lot of stuff out there, and it's a truly unique experience to hear it.
Any thoughts?

I don't know anything about this type of music or this guy. I think you should always buy the CD's you enjoy though without worry about what other people think. It is considerate though that you use the headphones because obviously your musical tastes are not the same as everyone elses.

I wish others would do the same thing. My husband wants to super-charge an iPod, and aim it at cars to switch their music, if it annoys us. A friend asked "well, wouldn't they just want to do the same thing to you, if they don't like what you're playing?"
The whole point is, that if the person's music isn't BLasting out of the car in the first place, we woudln't feel the desire to aim something at the car, and fix the problem1!! No one would notice our music, because we would not play it so loudly that it could be heard outside of our own vehicle. It's these people who go blasting down the street with rock music that invades my space (that hurts my ears, and that i can feel in my chest) that i get mad at.
