57 state (quarters)?

I have noticed lately that the new coins for the states are now coming out with American Samoa and others. Are we to believe that the states, of which we have fifty (50), now contain more than this number. Perhaps the thinking of Obama is that if we include places like American Samoa, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, etc. then he will be justified! Or, maybe there is another explanation?
Come on, give me some ideas, and throw me some feedback! Pro or con, 50 or 57, state and/or others, I'm just nuts, what am I talking about. Got the idea? Go!

You mean there IS 57 states...oh my! gonna have to retract the bad things I said about Obama being a Muslim now!

Awwww it's just a feel good thingie so that our territories don't feel all left out. lol
It's funny, I hadn't even noticed that, but why not? Can't exactly call them "state quarters" though any more, can we? Not if we want to be literal minded anyway.
