Being A Female Gamer

First off are there any female gamers on here? Second, do you have to deal with the kind of crap I deal with? Everytime I go into a game on live, and all the other gamers find out I am a female, they either harrass me or talk dirty to me. Being a female gamer is a true skill, we have to deal with overly hormonal men and boys who think they are the greatest things ever. We have to deal with sexist pigs, who can't handle the fact that a women, yes a women, can beat them at video games. I am under constant scrutiny whenever i join a game on live. I've heard it all from people telling me about their "manparts"(if you have to talk about it that much, obviously you're over compensating for the lack there of), to men calling the a c*** or a B**** because heaven forid I am actually better then you, and I can actually play the game, or have in oppinion and call you out when all you do is camp or jump around like an idiot. There is no true skill in camping or jumping to avoid death. I both love an hate being a female gamer. We're a rare breed indeed, and most are awesome although I have met a few female gamers who were well less then spectacular. In the same reguard I hate being a female gamer, because most of the idiots who play cant handle a women not only playing the same game as them but doing it better. I had on whole lobby (COD4) of guys call me everything in the book because i called them out on their crap, then I had another guy stalk me through sven different games in COD4 even after I blocked communications with him, avoided him as a player, and submitted a player review. Anyone else have simmilar experiences? Men feel free to comment and explain to me why it is that men cant handle a female gamer?

My husband and I have the Halo Edition 360, The Wii, Game Cube, Nintendo64, and The Nomad... I will play GRAW and GRAW 2 with him but we haven't gotten xbox live, and I don't even know if two players using the same system can use xbox live, I'm sure my hubby does... He'll be along shortly to respond... In any case, We've only played games together, or I've watched my husband and a friend play a game. I haven't had to deal with any of the stuff you have, but thanks for the heads up if we ever do get xbox live, is it worth it? Also, I would be using the feature you mentioned to block them and to report them, because that's just harassment right there. We're not COD fans...

??,?????,????????? ????????,???????«????»??«????»?????,?????????????,?????????????????«????»,???????????? Hello, I am from China, but I am working in Philippines. I'm very appreciate a female gamer, although most of the girls like shopping or watching the boring tv show. I like the female gamers expecilally them master how to play the Counter Strike or Warcraft, if they did, also to the other games. I'm playing the "Crysis" recently, which gemes do you like?

I know many female gamers online and in real life. I've never seen any of them being harassed online. More like the opposite. Everyone is nice to them lol I think it may kinda depend on a game. I play wolf: ET and majority of the gamers are guys 20-35 years old. But COD4 is relatively new game and it's really popular and I can imagine a big bunch of frustrated teens playing it. So I guess it's because of immaturity of some players. If it really bothers you, just change your nick in something neutral and don't say you're female the first thing you connect to a server.

This is a good discussion and I am sure that different people have different opinions about gamers, and females who play video games,I personally do not have a problem with female gamers, and I like playing video games with anyone who wants to play with me even though I do not play online as of right now,but me and my wife play a lot of video games together, and she helps me get achievements for game on the X-box 360,and I really enjoy playing games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2,and Rainbow Six Vegas with her ,and she knows this, and I wish that me and her had more time to play video games, and do not know why some guys do not like female gamers, but it is probably cause they are not good at it,and they are afraid you will show them up,have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

Hey, I'm a teenage boy, but I sure don't act like that on games... I can honestly say that I don't care whether or not I'm going against male or female. Most of the time I don't even know. Though I'm not great, so I get my butt handed to me by guys and gals alike. So you keep on beating us at video games, and you get to have the last laugh. I would be too busy shooting people to harass women on games... Much too busy.

Yeah like you said female gamers are a rare sight in the gaming scene but those who do play are fierce competitors and the reason they play is they have skill equal or greater than an average player. Me being a male gamer have no problem when women players. Most probably you've met either prepubescent teens or very lonely 30 year old men living with their moms trying to make their presence be felt by oppressing someone who they think is weak since your a girl. My friend has the same problems she keeps getting stalked on any game she plays starting from simple minded games like runescape to COD4. I guess you have to live with it since I doubt anyone can control their hormones.

hey im a male gamer and i try to be respectful towards women on live. i think the reason we get so angry towards female gamers is because we feel that video games are our domain and that you are invading it. These are not my opinion in fact i would prefer more females on live, itll give a new perspective on gaming for me. I'm sorry that you have had to deal with this stuff. Best wishes to ya.
