there are plenty of semi-professionals who get paid an awful lot. i think we all know about bankers by now and the feeble attempts of mps in the uk to join this group by claiming for ridiculous expenses. there are others, particularly in middle to upper management positions while genuinely socially useful positions such as nursing get very low salaries. do you think a cap should be set on wages?

I agree with Zeph, if a company is getting bailed out by the Feds, there should be a cap on salaries and bonuses should be eliminated. For other businesses though, we have a free market system that should not be constrained.

certain organisations should definitely have limits - i'd include government bodies and charities in this. for the others there has to be a minimum but i guess you shouldn't really tell them not to spend their profits on big salaries for ceos etc etc. still seems a bit unfair though.

I hadn't thought about charities, jb, but I agree with you completely about them. I also agree that it's unfair that CEO's and the like get such big salaries (that money should go to me!) but some of them have the talent and experience to deserve them. My former boss for instance...computer illiterate bytch that she was...took a 3rd. rate short line railroad and built it into a multi-million dollar a year enterprise so she deserves the salary she's paid.

i suppose that's fair enough. you are quite mistaken about where the money should go though. clearly there's only one truly deserving cause and she's a blue rabbit.
