I'm so happy i finally pulled my knobs hard enough to get them off!!
AFter a recent discussion about cleaning, and routines, i was inspired to do some deep cleaning that needed to be done. We have lived in this apartment for 5 months, and i've tried on a few occasions to take the knobs off the stove because i could SEE underneath is goey and gross.. and its hard to clean the knobs while they are still on the stove! Today!! I WON!! i got the knobs off and after cleaning the backplate of the stove, i decided before i tackle the scrubbing my knobs, i would share with you my knob pulling story!
Have you recently completed a task you'd been trying to finish for some time ? How's it make you feel ? I am completely satisfied even if i dont get anything else done today!!

Hi Sissygrl, you spent all day pulling knobs off when you didn't need to bother. My knobs were completely gunked up but I wouldn't have had your patience. I simply sprayed them with something that was meant to clean cookers and then degunked them with a wire cleaner, it's something I found in the kitchen, which I may have purchased with the strange idea of scrubbing pans, and I don't know what it is called. Actually I didn't degunk my knobs at all on further thought, I got my ten year old involved in a new fun game, lets see how shiny you can make these knobs

Hatley my dear I'm the expert on fun things, lets have fun scrubbing the oven door, gosh that ironing looks fun, you just can't believe how much fun in brushing the inside of the car out. The novelty never lasts long so I take advantage when I can.

That sounds very gross! Ew! Glad you were able to clean them. I can't think of anything right off hand at his moment, but if I do think of something I'll come back to this discussion.

I did the knob thing in August before my friend came to visit....but tonight my dinner boiled over while the neighbor and I were visiting at the door so they might have to be done again.....I plan on doing a good cleaning next week....after my craft sale this weekend so I haven't really been cleaning at all!

Those knobs are VERY hard to remove! I need to do that, I haven't done it since I moved into my house 2 years ago. I also need to mop the kitchen floor and a dozen other chores. I need some motivation!

Hahahahaha! I'm so happy that you were able to get your knobs off! (Man, that sounds kinky!
)
I finally hemmed the curtains in my livingroom after about a year. I had bought new sheers for my front bay window which are an unusual length. I had to buy sheers that were longer than the window, so I cut them off, meaning to hem them right away but things got in the way. You know how life goes... you plan it one way and it goes another way.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I was able to FINALLY get them hemmed, then took them down and washed them, took them outside to dry in the summer breeze, and put them back up. Boy! Do they look nice! LOL
I try to keep up with the messes created when I cook. We have a glass-top range so cleaning the burners is not an all-day chore now, thankfully. Sometimes it needs hard scrubbing but there's nothing to take apart anymore. We also have buttons instead of knobs so that's not an issue anymore. But, I still do have to clean out the inside of the oven and that's a chore I dread. Maybe I'll get to that before the year is over.

You sly Dogg, you! I thought you had disappeared and now I see you're just stalking me... sneaking in behind the others. Uh huh. I see how you are now. I'm gonna keep my eyes on you!
Unfortunate is right.
I had "buttons" most of my life. It wasn't until I started meds for panic disorder that I actually, uhh, "grew" knobs. LOL1 person likes this

As long as they know the right buttons to push, I'm game!

I can understand your excitement over your successful knob removal. I tried unblocking my sink by unscrewing the pipe at the back and cleaning it out, but I couldn't screw it back on again, until, weeks later, last weekend I screwed it on successfully. No more flooded bathroom. Turns out my flange was getting in the way.
