East India Company of Netherlands purchased the total Manhattan area only by $24 from the local Indians. But the Dutch could not keep their occupation of this island. After few years the island had gone to the hands of the English.Gradually the city of present New york flourished on the bank of the river Hudson in the New york state. AFP online says,to celebrate 400 years of this city of US an exhibition of former Dutch colony began from last 13th September. The document of purchasing Manhattan from the Indians by the price equivalent to $24 also takes place in this exhibition. The one of the economic glories of the USA the Twin Tower was situated in Manhattan.

A lot of the USA was stolen from the original people who had no concept of ownership of the land. It is not something many of us are proud of. But we cannot change what happened in the past and this is not the only country that has experienced this. One wonders how long it will take global warming to swamp this area along with many other coastal cities. Mother earth has always been the great leveler.
