Green Stuff on my Soil / myLot

I'm growing a vegetable container garden on my porch, mostly lettuce. I'm starting to notice that parts of the soil are turning green. What is this? Is it safe? Is it safe to eat the veggies grown in this soil? Can the soil be reused? Thanks

is the soil really wet and compressed? if so it may be an algae problem
