Do you think the media in general is liberal or conservative?

I was asking this question today in class. At first I immediately thought Liberal but now sitting back thinking. The newsrooms seem to be more conservative. Their is a code of conduct in a lot of news papers, magazines and such. How do you feel about this? How do you view the media as a general? Do you think the media is taking advantage of people?

newspapers here are all conservative bar two. the televised media is not too bad - the bbc is pretty balanced for example. perhaps slightly liberal but not to the point of putting spin on things.
