Tomato paste is very thick and needs to have fluid added to make it so you can use it, say for stews, pasta sauce etc. Puree is not as thick and is cooked and well blended tomatoes. You don't have to add as much fluid (or water) to puree to use it. With tomato paste, you can put a spoon in it and the spoon will stand up straight as you inserted it. Puree will not support the spoon, the spoon will fall over to the side of the can.
I hope that has helped some.

hi biman__s well now let me help tomato paste is very very thick and you willbe told to Add some water to it in most recipes. tomato puree is a thickened version of plain canned tomatoes, its been seived to get outthe seeds but is much looser than the paste.you will not ordinarily be asked to put water with the puree. When you purchase these two items and open the cans you will see what I mean,it will be very clear to you.

. I hear the words tomato paste and tomato puree in the cooking shows but I really don't understand the difference between them. Can you please tell me the difference between them?
