I am just curious if your avatar helps you in generating responses or the responder focus more on the discussion that is being discuss? With my experience, sometimes, i tend to be curious with the avatar of one member and decided the to click on it and stare for it for few seconds or even minutes. Because of doing so, I was able to see some of his/ her discussions that leads me to respond to his her discussion. In your own perception, is avatar is one factor to generate responses on your discussion? Give your point of you.

hhhhmmmm... NO!!! that is the most important thing to say... lol! first, i used my picture as an avatar because i want my fellow mylotters and friends knwo who i really am... then now, i just got bored withmy face so i decided to go along with the crowd [in-crowd]. and because i love what MysD is using and some other mylotters. then came rise the yellowish smiley people of mylot community... aint that nice?! surely is... jhelai

"first, i used my picture as an avatar because i want my fellow mylotters and friends knwo who i really am..." When I started here, i also started posting my face in the avatar. After a few months,I have notice that my privacy is now being invaded,I decided it to change it with a baby. I used for almost 5 months. Then, after a while, I find it very boring and decided to change it with an animated smiley. But I don't think so it attracts responder to my discussion. I got lot of responses, it is because most of my discussions are interesting.lol!am i right?

Thats really true. I am getting bored now to see my avatar. But I doubt whether I get good responses or not... But my friends are good and they keep my discussions hot and I know they like my discussions. I too now thought of changing my avatar in yellow... Its attractive and it really makes others to see what their discussions are. Its my 2 cents... I can't go ask suggestions but from these kind of dicussions iCan really know what others think about avatars... Cheers

I find it easier to recognise an avatar. If I read an nteresting post I then associate it with an avatar and it will be the avatar which will attract me to the post next time I see it. Then I will remember the username of the person posting. The green default avatars do not help much in my opinion as they are so anonymous though some Lotters who have them have some great discussions going. When I open an interest and notice a particular avatar in the list of discussions, if it is one that I recognise then I am usually drawn to that particular discussion before I read the titles of the others. Of course this doesn't always mean I respond because an attractive avatar does not necessarily mean there is a brilliant discussion alongside it.

Helping out seems to be my 'hobby' on here and as long as some get some benefit from it then I shall pursue my mission

I don't think my avatar has anything to go with the traffic to my discussions. My avatar is just my way of expressing myself and fits my mood most times. I have never checked out a discussion based on a avatar either.

No problem my friend! I think the content of the discussion is what really matters and as long as it is something people will be drawn to your avatar won't change anything.

"I don't think my avatar has anything to go with the traffic to my discussions. My avatar is just my way of expressing myself and fits my mood most times."You are right. Our avatar has nothing to do with our discussion. I am very happy that this discussion has generate a lot of responses. Thanks for sharing.happy mylotting!

The essence of the discussion remain my first priority. Although, the avatars attract it is non sense unless the person know to ask a good question and replies to other respondents. Just like your avatar is very funny having a dumbell on the other hand while the other hand is eating an ice cream. It is really noticeable.

"The essence of the discussion remain my first priority."I agree with you with this statement. This is really true. The number of your responses always depends on the content and impact of your discussion. So even your avatar will be the most beautiful avatar here in mylot, it will be useless if you are not going to post quality discussions and responses.

For me, it doesn't make much difference. It's the discussion that I'm drawn to. Although occasionally I have seen some really weird ones, and instinctively avoided them!

Yes, the quality of the discussion is really important. Your animated and beautiful avatar will be useless if you always have useless discussion. We should always make it sure that the discussion that we make helps other people in their life and in their concern as well.

You are right about that. What draws me to respond is the topic of the discussion. I just shrug my shoulder if I find the avatar looking weird.

I really do not think that the avatar attracts responses from the other members. Personally, I vividly look at the topic given. If it generates interest in me, I would really bother to read and respond. I do not mind at all what the avatar looks like. I think it is just an icing on the cake or a make-up one one's face.

You are right, avatar should not have any factor in responding to one's discussion. What we should look into or what we look into is the quality of the discussion posted by the member.happy mylotting!!

I doubt if the avatar alone is sufficient to persuade another member to respond to your discussion. Naturally it could catch the eye of a member scrolling through the discussions, so they are likely to notice your discussion as a result. Nevertheless, if the topic is not considered interesting or simply does not appeal to that member then they are unlikely to become involved. It may help indirectly, because the more members that notice your post and the greater the chance of interesting someone, but ultimately the only real way to success is to try to maintain a good quality.

Hi there rberon1985! The avatar probably does not guarantee responses from other people on myLot. But, it can probably help. I mean, in one way or another, the avatar may entice other people check out on a topic at hand.

Yes avatar is one factor to generate responses.I too most of the time see my friends avatar and what were the recent discussions he responded to then i respond to those discussions.I also see the discussions he started and respond to those discussions.I there is no avatar then we will not go into the profile and see it deeply.that is one reason i uploaded my photo in the profile.

Some people have never changed their avatar from the myLot default image. These people do not seem to have any trouble getting responses to their discussions so it is probably not a factor.

Naw, i think it's the discussion/question you ask. However, I do look at the avatar and laugh or be like WTF? But it doesn't have an affect on who I will answer for the day.

I really don't think so. Its completely based on the type of discussions we start and the type of discussions we respond to. So even having some really smart graphic as your avatar it actually doesn't make any change in the number of responses we get.

"I really don't think so. Its completely based on the type of discussions we start and the type of discussions we respond to." This statement is really true, our avatars has not something to do with our discussions, its the content of our discussion that makes the responder to respond or to give comments on your discussion. happy mylotting!

Unique avatars sometimes will bring some responses to your posts, but it's kinda out of topic with the discussion - since they will talk about your avatar instead!

I don't have an avatar, but maybe I should get one and see if I get more responses. I tend to do okay (at least I think I do) without one. I just never got around to finding one that I liked. Yours is cute really cute by the way. Thanks for posting!

to me, maybe it's one factor. but not the most important one. mostly, i gave responds because i was interested in the topics or i have my comments on the topics.

hi rberon1985 I don't things so! i think no because is defend on the discussion is defend on interest is defend on mylot member is defend of the interest of mylot responded, if she like the topic and she contribute her opinion and many world and advice i thinks she respond from that discussion, and if easy to answer and she contribute opinion and she really like the topic she will respond from that discussion is defend from everything! like me i choice the discussion that easy to answer and i can contribute my opinion and i can express my feeling and i can relate on that discussion. if the discussion is what i said i will respond from that discussion. if i cannot relate on the discussion i will not respond from them! but not avatar to generate respond!.
