I love Mexican food! We have a restaurant less than five minutes from our house and I eat there at least once a week. I think it is the best one we have around. There are probably 4 other Mexican restaurants within 10 miles of our house, but this one is definately the best. I don't know what it is, but I think all Mexican restaurants are different. The sauce served with the chips is different, the beef they use is different, etc. I can tell the difference, but some of my friends think all of it tastes the same. What do you think? Do you have a favorite Mexican restaurant where you are? What's your favorite Mexican dish?

I used to live in Costa Mesa CA and there's this restaurant there, Mi Casa, I swear to God, I would drive out there right now just to eat at that place. Now I'm in Springfield MO and there is a chain of local restaurants Mexican Villa, worst food I have ever tasted. The enchiladas had wilted lettace and American cheese on top. Their "salsa" is tomato paste and chili powder. It's so sad. Taco Bell has the best mexican food out here. I may cry.

Wow - I'm sorry to hear that. After having good Mexican food I don't know how I would act if all I could rely on was Taco Bell! Maybe one day soon there will be a new place in town. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

No i don't think that all Mexican restaurants are the same. We have at least two chains in our area. They are both different. I think the difference lays in what part of Mexico the owners came from. Even every cook has a different way of preparing the food. Some of restaurants are very good.

No. We have a mexican restaurant here in town and I really wouldn't recommend it. It is just that bad. There is, however, one that just recently opened up 30 miles from me that is terrific. And I think it is how they cook their food and what seasonings they put in their food, and the salsa.

I live in Brazil, and I also love mexican food. I've been in lots of mexican restaurants around here, including the ones in major cities. But I have to state they're all different here as well. It seems that the majority of them can't keep up to ingredients similar to the original ones. For example, the type of cheese used are most of the times different, as well as the beef. It never tastes the same. And for comparison, I've lived in Canada for 3 months, and I can say that I've eaten in some really better restaurants around there. I could say it's due to the obvious geographical and cultural issues, because Mexico is situated in North America, and mexican people have influenced a lot of it's habits. So, again, I need to say that most of restaurants I've been to aren't quite true to the real mexican food. I think that the ingredients and spices used are essential to it's success. Personally, I prefer quesadillas and I can never eat any of the mexican dishes without adding a lot of hot sauce.
