Why I am so concerned about others?

Have you ever been in the same circumstance with me? When i am playing games on the computer and at the same time my roomates are studying or doing something like reading books, I always feel anxious. I think I should do some study too or I will be dropped behind, but I dont want to stop playing either. I am so cared about others, or I can say, I cant focus on my own things. Even when I borrow some books from the library, I will also see what book my classmates borrow. Does he/she choose the better book? Whats wrong with me?

This is not concern that you're feeling. This is just plain old insecurity. Trust me, I've gone through this. First of all, know for yourself that your time is yours alone and you decide how to spend it. You know your syllabus and the time it may take for you to complete it, so you have to plan your course of action. Our mind tries to switch over into escape mode whenever we are faced with a difficult situation. I myself have sat in front of the computer playing games for hours, but at the back of my mind, there was always the nagging worries about the slipping time. Net result is that you cannot enjoy the game also. So I took the following policy: I sat down for studying for a long stretch, say three hours. At that moment, I fully concentrated upon my studies. After three hours, when I felt that I've advanced somewhat through my course, I rewarded myself with half an hour of computer games. I kept racing games at those times because one track takes a very small time and in half an hour, you can play many tracks. After that, my brain felt sufficiently relaxed so that I could settle in for another bout of studies. Second thing, about books you should take. Well, you will indeed have to see what the others are borrowing, perhaps take a quick look through the contents page or borrow the books for a week and decide which one will suit you best. Remember, the worth of a book is not decided by the fame of the author. It's ultimately you who decides the worth of a book judging by how much of the concepts therein you can assimilate. In the exam, you yourself have to write down what you've learnt and there, if you have a solid understanding of the concepts, this will be easy. Don't pay heed to others who speak highly of difficult books and how they are reading "extra" material from them. The "extra" material is mostly so high level that it's beyond the comprehension of the average student and people just tend to mug that up. Mugging up isn't going to help you in the exams. As you can see, I've been through all these experiences. Hope I've been helpful. Cheers.

this kind of insecurity feeling is sometimes normal.your anxiety stems from the fact that you feel deep down that you are wasting time while others are utilising it.but lack the will to change the situation too.i think this happens with us too ;when u see ur friends studying for the nextday's exam while u r enjoying ur favorite movie having guilty pangs too.the best thing in such a situation is to realise the fact that every individual has different capacity, different routine, different way of handling things.so even if two person study for the same hours from the same notes.its very unlikely that both of them would end up having same result.so forget comparing yourselves with other and focus on your individual qualities.that would help u enjoy ur game and then focus on ur studies without getting guilty.

There's nothing wrong with you. I have experienced similarly. In the end I knew that I needed attention and acceptance from my friends. I just wanted to be like my friends or people beside me. I also wanted to attract them by being same to their behaviour. So I sum that you have nothing wrong. You only have common feeling. It will go normal again as you get used to it.

well in that sense, you could not take the time that while you are enjoying some of the people around you are busy studying their lessons. But i think it can help you more when you have the interest to study with the help of your room mates.

Hey, Well I think that it is just human nature to act like that. Even I find sometimes that I do the same thing, it is very hard to explain it though. I find that you should stop worrying about yourself, just try and relax. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Everyone has his or her own habit ,and also their aim .As long as we know what we should to do to make our ideality come true,we will catch the time .If you find people around you have some strongpoint ,you ought to adopt action but struggle in your mind.
