The recent videos exposing ACORN criminals proves how irrelevant

the incompetent press has become. When everyone except network news anchors and even that sk@nk Nancy Pelosi doesn't know about something that the average American has heard all about... it is official. Stick a fork in the incompetent press... it is done!

The problem with the "mainstream" press and media is they don't think it really counts or happened unless they report on it. If they don't report on it than it is not important. Which may have been the case some years ago before the internet got so big. But now....people can find out just about anything they want to know WITHOUT listening to the "mainstream" media. Just because they don't cover it does not mean people won't find out about it. Most people get their news online. And I read a report not too long ago that said a lot people are looking for the news in other sources besides the major main stream media due to bias and lack of coverage on stories. Some stations are too far to the left, some too far to the right. They have not changed with the times. They think they still decide what the news is. Well not anymore. And if they don't watch it they will become obsolete. It is simple supply and demand. If they don't start supplying what people are looking for than people won't demand their services. I may check out to see what is going on on their websites. But if I want the whole story I know to do more research on my own. People are realizing just how biased our major media is and they are getting sick of it. We have other choices beside them to get our news...we are not forced to only listen or watch them. We are using those other sources. Hopefully this will be a wake up call. But I doubt it.

I was advised by some more liberal-leaning members here that MSNBC had done a story on this and so I watched their coverage. It did not include any salacious or incriminating bits of the video and instead we were reminded several times that the conservatives have been out to get ACORN, reiterated some of ACORN's denials and left one with the impression that this was more about conservative dirt digging than about the criminal behavior of an organization that collects millions of dollars in federal funding. Technically, they've mentioned the story, but realistically, they've made sure it was skewed to sound fairly unimportant. I do think more and more people will turn from the incompetent mainstream press and turn to the sources that provide more news without a filter. I would be angry to discover that my news source didn't cover a story that had been common knowledge to many for a week or more. But the responsibility is ours, ultimately, to seek out information when we know that any source is bound to have some bias, bound to relegate some stories to the back pages. Everyone should read more than one source of news daily.

I would not be surprised. It seems that the media thinks that anything that the left does is fine with them and they excuse them. I only see what Acorn has done by reading the news articles in the conservative press, and that is bad enough. My speaker does not read so have not had a chance to look at the videos. I suppose they are on Youtube.

I'm not quite sure what you're implying, Ted. Who or what do YOU consider to be "relevant"? I've seen the incriminating ACORN videos and I don't watch Fox News or read the ultra-conservative websites. Annie

Annie, for the last week there has been nothing on the videos. In the last few days there has been coverage, but even Charlie Gibson and Nancy Pelosi didn't know what was going on. Pelosi didn't even know that the Senate had voted to cut ACORN funding. If the incompetent press had its way, no one would have ever heard of these videos. The news got out without the help of the incompetent press... much like the news about Van Jones resigning.

Well, you can't prove anything about Charlie Gibson by me because I never watch ABC News. Annie

It's actually been pretty fun to watch the various media outlets over the past couple of days to see who was covering this story as it developed and who was ignoring it. Incompetent press is a richly deserved name for what passes for the news media these days.

Rush Limbaugh calls them the, "drive by media". They've stopped driving by.

Glenn Beck coined a new term for what was formerly known as the "mainstream media" since they have been anything BUT "mainstream" in the past year or so and growing LESS in touch with mainstream America by the hour, he calls them "fringe media" which I think is a perfect term since they only seem to represent the far left fringe of America these days.
