ohio id changes - too many holligrams for Ohio

What does your states drivers license look like? How recently has the state changed it's appearance? How much does it cost to renew or replace it where you live? Well let me tell you, I just had a birthday in March, and this was the year to renew. That cost me $24.90. And in less than six months I lost it while moving. So, I had to get it replaced and guess what? Yep, another $24.90. I can't believe it, I just gave them $50 for my license. However, if you lose your state ID it only costs $7.90 to replace it. Call me crazy, but does that sound wrong? I mean it's being printed on the same type of plastic, in the same machine, in the same location, so what's with the price hike? Now, in Febuary my boyfriend was due to get his license renewed and his looked different than mine. So apparently there had been some money spent by the state to change the look of this much needed card. So, having lost mine in July, and stalling to give them another $24.90, in hopes of finding the one I just bought in March, I go without my drivers license until September 11th. Yes, very hard to get in bars without it. Anyway, I finally go and give the $24.90 and to my surprise, they have changed the look of the driver's license, yet again. Do they have nothing better to do? That money could've been used to save some of the jobs of the 96 police officers. When they handed me the card I just stared at it because it looked like it was from another state. And I looked at that thing for about 15 minutes when I got to the car. I couldn't believe they spent tax payers money to give the driver's license 8 different holligrams(not sure I spelled that right). They put a holligram of the state bird (cardinal), the state flag, the state capitol,a ribbon, the state seal, the ohio safety slogan, and something else I can't tell what it is. It's just ridiculous.

Here in Kentucky it is $20 I believe there is a $12 replacement cost (like moving, name change) ID are $8 and if you lose your license for unseen circumstances like suspend or revoked to reinstate them after a court hearing it is a whooping $40 plus the $20 or $12 depending upon the amount of time that has passed. I know what you mean though it is ridiculous. I did notice in my little town that the city police did get new uniforms and police cars. you have to look at the cars they get out of now to distinguish between city and state police. They have the hats and the whole nine yards. Snazzy don't you think.

Dang, I'm moving to Kentucky...I can save some money. Thanks for the information on Kentucky. New cars huh? Isn't that something. What part of Kentucky? Any chance near the Ohio line by Cincinatti?

I am on the other side of Lexington about a hour in a half or 2 from Cincinnati. It is cheaper, but Kentucky has a wacked up system for things. Things are different from county to county. That is one thing that should not be different because it is state.

You make a valid point there. I think some things are like that here, with the different counties.

Hey, Yea I think that they need more money, because the government or the economy is going really bad, so I think that in order to actually maintain the economy, they need to take the money away some how, and now it is with driving. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Thanks for your comment. If they would just ask a few struggling mothers that work for little of nothing and fighting for child support while still keeping their utilities on and rent paid, how to balance the economy, we might just get somewhere.

I really hope thats not your id cause the informations thats on it. My mom works for the Ticketing office of the FL court house and registration DOUBLED this year AND it cost like a lot of money to get a new ID here too. The prices all changed at the beginning of this month. It's an insane increase.
