Recently i was affected with a viral fever, i was asked by the doctor to undergo a precautionary Swine Flu Test and have a N 95 mask with me. though i was suffering from symptoms as Swine Flu I was sure that i wasn't affected with H1N1 virus as i had been taking proper precautions. I was tested negative for the virus. Recently I did a little research on the N 95 masks that i thought was worth sharing: According to a study conducted by University of New South Wales (UNSW), which compared the efficiency of various masks, found that specialised respirators (N95 masks) offer the best protection to health workers. This is the first study to compare the efficiency of various masks, and it revealed that surgical masks offer no protection at all to either influenza or respiratory disease. N95 masks provided 75 percent protection against proven influenza infection and 56 percent protection against proven respiratory viral infections. The findings could revolutionise current medical practice, which relies on surgical masks providing defence against influenza when vaccines aren't available.
