Shedding Fur Throw

Hi: I have a fairly old fur throw, it's the kind that is two toned and has a Llama on it. So I guess it's from Mexico, or someplace like that. Maybe, it's from the sixties or seventies. It's on the back of the couch, but all of a sudden I've been finding little pieces of fur all over the place. It's really shedding. Is there something I'm supposed to do to prevent it from falling apart on me? Has anybody had a problem like this?

Sounds weird but my only experience with 'fur' is years back I had a rabbit fur coat and was told in the summer to store it in the freezer so it would 'molt' like live animals do - in the summer months they shed their winter fur :(

That sounds totally weird. But I guess it's possible. Maybe it's like wood that swells in the summertime or something like that.
