american soldiers have now shot a man who threw a shoe at them. they thought it was a grenade. allegedly. do you think the foreign troops there are behaving themselves or are we getting the usual thing that happens in war (people doing awful things that they would never consider under other circumstances)? should point out that i'm not just talking about this incident which appears relatively minor but overall.

Wow I've never seen a grenade the size of a shoe before or maybe the guy had a tiny foot. The American military services allow anyone in and that shouldn't be the case. Did you know there are tons of gang members in military? And, also white hate groups? And the attorny general here wanted to have it so gang members and hate groups couldn't get into the military and the conservatives were cry babies about it. It's an invasion of rights and privacy. Yet, all the military is doing is teaching these groups how to be better killers.

You never heard of explosives being stuffed into something? That should COULD have b been filled with plastique, this is a part of the world where people blow stuff up (and themselves) ALL THE TIME in an effort to kill people they don't like.

This reminds me of the disgusting people during the Viet Nam war who harassed and spit on our soldiers when they came hoe calling them "baby killers" and such. People SO QUICK to judge the military in the WORST possible light without ever considering any other alternative other than the soldiers must be "wrong". Disgusting.
They are in a WAR ZONE in a part of the world where people ROUTINELY hide bombs in all kinds of stuff, including children, and soldiers who deal with these homicidal nutjobs DAILY see a guy throw something at them. I'd have shot him too! And here's what you neglect to inform people in your OP, they DID NOT KILL the guy, only wounded him, and then the SOLDIERS administered first aid to him! Not exactly the blood thirsty killers people want to beleive our soldiers are now are they?
The shoe thrower was an idiot for thinking he could just send things flying at armed people in a WAR ZONE who are routinely the target of bomb attack and have nothing happen.

It's something I am sensitive about, when I still lived in my home-town, I was a bartender and many of my customers who became my god friends were Viet Na Vets who told me the horrors of what happened to them when they got HOME from the war and how often it was WORSE for them than what happened during their deployment. I have seen grown men break down and cry remembering what those jerks did to them when they got home, often horribly wounded, and it sickens me to see folks so quick to judge our soldiers today in the worst possible light at every opportunity. Not just this discussion either, it's done often by our own media as well.

who ever threw that shoe should have not done that in the first place. knowing that people react violently now specially at the times we are in. though i don't approve of what the soldiers did but people should not risk themselves to situation like this.

The Iraqi man isn't the first person that has been shot at by troops nor the last. Since when has there been any real investigation? When the whole war first started the entire country was raided and people were killed by the 100's and all that happened was..
Wow.. that's awful.. they ought to stop..
Yea made a difference.
It isn't usual, it should never be considered a norm for people to be shot on a whim. (shot, beat, murdered, etc...)
War has desensitized most people and that is sad. A while back i posted a discussion about the massacre that went on in Gaza (Palestine)... one of the responses i got was basically big deal get over it.
It is odd how these sort of things are mentioned and people simply think it isnt a big deal since it was one guy... will the one guy was someone's son, father, uncle, or husband Think about it.

oh yeah im sure all those people in mass graves are really thankful for great old american style freedom. or perhaps the great service done was getting robbed in broad daylight? come on now get off your high horse. if you recall the LIE that was used to get into Iraq was not because of the leader rather because of imaginary weapons of mass destruction... or have we all forgotten that little part?

I don't know how to answer the question. However, I've read dubious things about our troops. Some of the stories I've read about them have been beyond sick and makes me feel ashamed of being an American. I will post a link from a story I read earlier this month.
