Why?

I put the computer on this morning fully intending to do really useful stuff. I answered e-mails and then got caught up in other time wasting stuff and someone stole the day in the meantime. Do you start with good intentions and get distracted by other things?

Oh yes. I got distracted all the way to North Oxfordshire once. That was a very good distraction too. Today I have ironed, cleaned and vacuumed. They are all distractions from the computer. I have also computed proportionately more time than I have done those other jobs. I quite like this being distracted by the computer lark.

Strange, I had a day when I was distracted to the same area. I met quite a nice man there, maybe you know him. I had every intention of using the computer usefully but stuff in e-mails was interesting and time wasting.

Nannacroc, this happens to me too often to even to admit to. However, I have found a system which works for me. Because I work online thet comes first, no matter what. School comes second as I am also a student. Only after I have met both those obligations, do I get to the fun part - personal emails, this site, etc. In other words, if it isn't my job or schooling, then it doesn't get attended to until I have free time. I have to do this, or my days would disappear in huge chunks of time. I am a research junkie and would surf all day if I could. Short of winning a lottery, I don't see that happening for me anytime soon - lol. There is a freedom to having fun online once all my other obligations have been met. For example, if you use this site to make money, schedule it in to your "work" time. Do what you have to do to make the money, then go to the recreational stuff. I don't know if this will help you, but it works very well for me.

Some days I a very good and get straight on with stuff but others, like today, I find all sorts of things distracting. Thanks for your reply and welcome to MyLot.

Oh mercy, lol. Yup, that's me. It's so easy to get distracted and have the day slip away. Like today, I started with good intent, and ended up doing nothing really important. I started doing one thing, then ended up answering the door only to end up doing something totally 'else.' I never got the thing I started out to do accomplished.

yes you tell me real things. sometimes it happens to me. while i am working on my personal computer i am distracted by other things and generally it happens that i waste my precious time. anyway i have got two computers. when i decide to work i generally use the one without the internet connection. moreover i didn't create an account on facebook becouse i know it would be dangerous for me.

Guilty! That's me too I switch on the computer to complete my works. I did focus. Then I answered emails, login to Facebook and start getting in a flow of distractions. By the time I realized it, I already spend hours on something else but my work. I think I need more self control but it's hard to do that with a computer and unlimited Internet connection. I can't turn off the connection as I need to do some research while doing my work. It so hard~~~
