Just for fun...will you have a cherry with that ice-cream sundae?

As people, of course we each have our own taste preferences. Let's say that you are making yourself an ice cream sundae. What delicious toppings will you put on top that ice cream to make it suit your particular tastes? I will have a soft-serve vanilla, please, with hot fudge, cashews, a bit of whipped cream, and a beautiful cherry on the top. Thank you for any responses! And in the light of recent readings about why people begin silly discussions, this one has been begun simply for fun, and because I am curious to know about each of your tastes in food! Karen

Hello, on a sundae I do like having a cherry. On fried ice cream I also like having a cherry. But at home I typically just have an ice cream cone with a drop of chocolete shell on top.If I fix my own ice cream at home I use the chocolate shell all over the ice cream, but on the cone just a drop.I prefer hard ice cream over soft serve.

Hi, the fried ice cream is made through a process of scooping hard ice cream. then freezing the scoops for an hour then coating with the mixture and refreezing for another hour and putting it through the coating mixture again. I put the mixture oh the fried coat at least two times. I Keep the ready ice cream with the mixture in a separate container in the freezer. When I make the fried ice cream I make about 18 scoops to fry for dessert. I use a fry baby to fry the ice cream. The frying doesn't take long, just a matter of seconds then I either use straberry or chocolate sauce and whipped cream and the dessert is ready. It is a long process so thats why I make extra. I use smaller scoops so it's not quite like what is made a Mexican restaurant but it is still good

Imagine that! Fried ice cream sounds good, but yes, I would make extras, too. Another question: how do you make the "coating?" Thank you :) Karen

Hi Ds. The chocolate shell is good on a cone, yes. As for hard ice cream, I love the mint chocolate chip kind and a flavor call strawberry cheesecake. I've never had fried ice cream and have always wondered how they make it. Of course, it comes to mind that it seems the ice cream, whatever coats it, would melt. Perhaps someday, I'll get a chance to try some. Karen

LOL, that is a coincidence. Just before coming back online, I had a bowl of neopolitan I try to eat healthy all week, and I have for a while now, designated Sunday as my "junk-food" or treat day. So that was it for today!

Hi, PeacefulWmn9. I would love to have vanilla and hot fudge with strawberry swirls and a cherry on top. I love cherries. I would enjoy taking that cherry off the top of the ice cream and eating it.

Hi Yugasini. Here on MyLot, I've learned a lot about favorite foods and new things to make and try from other countries. It is one of my joys about the site...all the things I've learned about other cultures. Have a good day. Karen

Hi Yugasini. I do love sundaes. Like you, I love them with fruit, too. A banana split, with its strawberries, pineapple, and banana makes a meal all by itself. I hope you're having a happy day. Karen

Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 JI, Well, I wish to keep all my options on side and accept ice-cream of any variety of any flavour, in any color is heratly acceptable to me. I never prepare at home, nor I dare to buy for me alone. If offered I would love to have it all the way. My throat is prone to become bad, but I can not resist temptation. I like it very much. May God bless You both and have great time.

Mmm, I love ice cream, too, any flavor, any way. There are such a variety in the ice cream shops or stores or at the Dairy Queen! It is a nice treat to bring home, even in the winter time when I can eat it in the warmth of my home! God bless you, Karen

I only like fresh cherries. I would prefer banana on the top of my ice cream. It's a good thing I don't keep ice cream in the freezer or I'd be headed for it right now.

Yum, Pat! I love fresh dark cherries...just as is...no sugar. They are a rare treat because of the cost, but when they are on sale, I always buy some! Unfortunately, my guy DOES keep ice cream in the freezer almost all of the time, lol. When I have some, I let it replace a meal so it doesn't add pounds! Have a nice afternoon. Karen

I'll just have the vanilla ice cream please, and nothing else! Heheh yeah, I've never been fond of cherries, or chocolate/strawberry syrup. I don't like nuts, and while I think candy sprinkles are cute, I don't want them on my ice cream. I love vanilla ice cream and I like to keep it simple I guess.

don't worry. this is one type of discussion i like responding to. it doesn't take much of my time and that is good in getting my personal daily quota here in mylot. you know the very first time i tasted that cherry on top of my ice cream i realized i can go on living till old age without it. looks better than how it tastes.

Hello Ritchelle. LOL, I personally think that is why that single cherry is added...for "eye appeal" rather than whatever it might add to the taste of a sundae. For that, it would take more than just one. Have a great day. Karen

Yummy ice cream sundae. I have a favorite place that I like to go for ice cream sundaes, but it is a hundred miles away from home so I don't get my favorite ice cream sunday very often. However, when I do get the sundae that I really like it is cherry cordial ice cream with hot fudge topping, whipped cream and a cherry on top of course. Typically, though, when I can't go to my favorite ice cream place I really like to get a banana split with vanilla ice cream, the toppings are pineapple, strawberry and hot fudge, whipped cream peanuts and a cherry on top.

Hi Dorann. Yummy is right lol. I do love a good ice cream sundae, especially on a hot day...very refreshing to have instead of supper. OOoo, cherry flavors and chocolate DO go really well together, don't they?? And like you, I enjoy a banana split...just the way you've described it. Take care! Karen

My sundae will have a hot fudge and whipped cream, lots of them. No cherries for me, pls. I'd rather put a grape on it than anything remotely similar to a cherry or berry (strawberries, especially).

Hmm, Involved. Now I've never thought to add a grape, but I imagine a purple one would be as pretty and as tasteful as a cherry! And hot fudge, for me, is a favorite topping, too. I hope your day is going well. Karen

i am not really adventurous when it comes to ice cream. i don't like to much toppings. as long as it taste great i will fine with it. though i do love ice cream i am not so much fond of it lately unlike when i was younger. but for fun cherries on top of ice cream is great for me too. i have not tired to have whipped cream on it. i avoid mainly of calories and the high price that comes with it when you order it. and i don't like the taste of whipped cream any ways,

Hello Hotsummer. One doesn't have to be adventurous to enjoy ice cream, for it is good all by itself. I only have the kind from an ice cream shop rarely, as you said, because it is very expensive, but I do treat myself to some once or twice each summer. Karen

Hello Satan88. I'm a chocolate lover, too, and your ice cream choices sound delicious. Sometimes, I crumble a few small cookies (chocolate chip, usually) into a bowl and top them with neopolitan ice cream for a special treat at home. When I go to an ice cream shop, I do love to get the toppings I mentioned or a banana split! Karen
