Eating healthy food is very important. There is always a discussions that non vegetarian is not a healthy food and only vegetables contains all the nutrients for a human body and vice versa. But I met some people those are strongly argue that the onions and garlics are not vegetables. And some people argue that the eggs are vegetarians. What is your opinion ?

Hi...mspitot Thank you for your opinion. Here in India some section of the people considered the garlic and onion as non veg and they will not eat it. I agree with you that the egg is a poultry product. But it is considered as non vegetarian.

i prefer to call them "spices". they add flavor to your foods and makes them more appetizing and delicious. but they can be eaten as raw too.

Hi........Fulltank Thank you for your response. I like your username. Some castes in India will not use the vegetables which grow under the soil. they considered this as non-vegetarian. Wish you many happy days ahead!!!

I've never heard an argument that onions and garlics aren't vegetables. I don't know perhaps garlic could be considered an herb. Eggs are most definitely not vegetarian in my opinion. There are vegatarian who are known as lacto ovo vegetarians and they include dairy like milk and eggs in their diet. I'm not certain that I agree that a vegetarian diet does give all of the nutrients that the body needs. My very good friend has been a vegetarian for about 20 years and she has to get vitamin B1 shots every three months from the Doctor because that is what her diet lacks. She got very seriously ill as a result of her diet and since getting the B1 shots, she is very healthy. I think that a vegetarian diet is much healthier than our meat based diet notwithstanding having to get the B1 shots.

Hi...Lauren This is a belief in some sections of the Indian castes. Some vegetarins claims that the eggs are vegetarian food. There is no scientific reasons for this . This is an age old belief Happy days ahead

Onion and garlic are vegetables. On the other hand, eggs aren´t. But the rules of a vegetarian diet (or a vegan one) don´t always have to do with what science says about a certain food. I have known vegetarians who will eat fish, but not other animals.

Eggs are a dairy product. For the true vegetarian they are a stape protien. But a vegan will not eat an egg as it is an animal product. Garlic and onions are vegetables and are included in many vegetarian dishes.
