            sleeping is the essential part of every one's day to day activity..ButI want to know how many hours a day we have to sleep for good health?

                    the average aged adult should have about 6-8 hours of sleep during the night and there is certain stages to your sleep as well the last stage of your sleep is called REM sleep which stands for rapid eye movement. they call it this because your eyes do accually go through this movement and if you were to accually watch someone while they where sleeping you would see them do it. During your REM sleep is the stage when you also dream at night. the REM stage of sleep is also your deepest sleep you will have during the night. if you have about 8 hours of sleep during one night then you will on average have about 2 hours of REM sleep.

                    According to whatever biology I know it is 8 hours for a woman and 6-7 hours for a man .Please do not ask me why a woman must have longer hours, I suppose, it is the way nature ordained it to be!
