Hi! I do agree with them here, that if you don't update your antivirus, it would still be worthless against the newer viruses that would circulating. As with the experience of our old computer, not updating would mean infiltration. As for my notebook, I've been using Avast, which I update daily. I also use alongside it an anti-malware software, Malwarebytes, which I update daily, too. I just don't get the fact why people have to make viruses when it simply disrupts systems. What, a money scheme? Make a new virus of which they have the "antidote", a new antivirus. Riiggghhht.

Hello.. =) I guess anti-malware and malwarebytes are such not a good idea to have your system equipped with them, late versions of antivirus can also detect malwares and dialers and some softwares like that reconfigures your PC's registry or even worst creates a portal to attract malware to you PC every time you go online, which later would give your system a hard time which would give you a headache... =) anyways that's just my own observation regarding those kinds of softwares.. =)

The best today would be the worst tomorrow, even the best antivirus if not updated frequently would be useless for the latest virus. Antivirus needs the virus definition or virus code for them to be able to detect such virus. So even if you use the free antivirus but updated it daily could perform better than the most expensive antivirus if not updated it's virus database. But there are antivirus that work slow with minimum requirements, so before selecting one, you also need to check your computer capabilities so it could perform better for you. You wouldn't need good in detecting and removing virus but make your computer crawl.

i ahve used symantec antivirus , AVG , Mcafee. Among these, symantec i have used in the office . it is a enterprise edition we are using. but server side updation does not happen daily. server link goes up or down. it slows down the system. the updates which is big in size slows down the sytem as it has to be fetched from servers if you do not have high speed wan connections. I use AVG free edition at home. It is a free edition which has email scanner, search engine results scanner, drive scanner anti virus and anti spyware scanner all in one. I liked it . Many viruses which is not detected by symantec is detected by this scanner and removed also. Even in my search pages , each search item displayed will have a ok or not ok flag showing how safe it is to open that link. also updates via internet are fast and daily getting updates also. Scanning is also fast. I think this is the best antivirus now available for personal use. Mcafee i have been using sometime ago, it was effective, but I dont know what is the position now.

yep i do agree with them always have an updated virus definitions, but it would be best if you purchase a full version of that software due to some services that are not available in trial or free versions otherwise you have to install 2 antivirus at the same time in your PC to maximize your protection but it would require your PC to have a good hardware for it to function well and to avoid system lag or hang due to the reason that it will consume a lot of space in your internal memory for their process, maybe that's the one reason why some antivirus like Mcafe, Norton and BitDefender requires excellent hardware for them to run normally without giving you system hangs and lag, antivirus like these has a lot of features in enhancing your PC's protection against aggressive Viruses scattered throughout the Net.. =) that is if you aim for an excellent protection. any anti virus will do as long as you update it and keep your system clean through your regular scanning... =)

For determining the best antivirus, I follow two principles. It should work well and it should be free. I have tried out two antivirus programs. They are AVG antivirus and AntiVir antivirus. As per my experience AntiVir is best. It works great and does not create any system problems. AVG also works and according to some it is best, but it created some system problems for me and I had to shift to AntiVir. In my opinion either of these two are good to have.
