I think the scope for using free blogspot sites is limited.

If you want to earn big money then you have to go for your own website. I think if you really want to earn big then you should stop using free blogspot sites, free Word press sites and go for paid hosting sites.
However we can start our blogging career with blogspot. Once you learn to monetize your blogs then you should switch on your own website.

Yes its true that free websites cannot earn money. As I observed less traffic will really have. As I go in research, free websites is not good for earning money. So its rally good to have a professional website. I still have my free website but i still constructing it i will upgrade it when i finish/established it.

i think your correct on this one, unfortunately im just starting out with all this blogging and have been struggling to get traffic to my site any help/feedback would be great my blog is www.the-tech-stoop.blogspot.com
do you think my content is good enough ? or not quite good enough to gain traffic ?

yes..bos..learning and trying to do the things...but it will be a slow process for me...i have to concentrate on my family more...i need to give time to my children who are still to be molded...so i have limitations...but still may slowly reach the target to earn a handsome amount from net in near future

I personally am pretty satisfied with blogger but that is not the best site. I really dont have the money to have a website that is professionally done. I think I need to look around and see what other options are but when your resorces are limited there is only so much you can do in terms of looking for new blogging sites.
