So we were watching Judge Judy tonight. There was this person who was sexually molested by the super of the building she lived in. She went and reported him and told her landlord what had happened. The landlord fired the guy but let him live in the building. So the person told the landlord she wanted to move into another apartment the landlord said no, she then asked the landlord to pay for her moving costs and to let her not pay rent for three so she could rent another place. Judge Judy asks the landlord so if this woman had asked to move to the ritz You would have paid her? She wasn't safe where she was living, the landlord would not let her move to another apartment. Her only alternative was to leave and rent someplace else. Which meant she'd have to save up rent. My husband thought that Judge Judy was wrong in what she was saying. He thinks she's totally absurd probably because a woman. What do you think? I think this woman was well within her rights to ask for three months rent back. Her safety was in question.

Makes me wonder if the landlord had this same problem before and not done anything about it. I don't think she was wrong in asking for another apartment, away from this super....The landlord put her in more danger than she was in, not to mention other females in that building. So did he have to pay her moving expenses and give her the 3 months to move that she requested? Most places give 30 days, no more, no less.
