What do you think about spanking kids?

I have done it, but only on rare occassions. I find that hitting your kids to teach them something isn't especially effective. However, when they are too small to understand talking it out or time outs I've used spanking. Like slapping a hand, or a quick pat on the bottom saying "no" when they try to put a fork in a lightsocket. What do you think about spanking?

I don't condone it ...I don't think it's effective. I'll be honest though. I have spanked my son a few times when other disciplinary action doesn't work. But my experience has been that it's the last thing I should have done. He's just been angrier at me and reacted badly after that. So, personally spanking gets a thumbs down from me.

I agree wtih getting a negative feedback from the child for spanking. As I said, I've done it but it was typically in situations where they were in danger and I wanted to get a firm point across. I don't spank my kids now - they are too old and can be reasoned with and understand the discipline they will receive for the consequences of their actions.

Hitting a child is just as wrong as hitting an adult. Why is it that the only person you are allowed to hit is someone much smaller than you?

Once i saw a mom hitting his boy so hard that the kid fall to the ground... I felt so badly that i asked the lady if she would do the same to me... Guess what she awsered me: - I would if you were my son!!! Damm i would spank her right in that moment if she was not a woman... Too badly for that kid not have anyone to complain about...
