Annoying adverts in MyLot

Have you noticed the new advertising ploy in MyLot? For the last couple of days certain words in discussions come up highlighted in blue and double underlined. If you hover your mouse over them, you get a little popup that (in my case) shows an advert for eBay. This kind of advertising can be found on a number of sites and whenever I encounter it it makes me leave the site double-quick because I think it's intrusive and annoying in the extreme. If MyLot continues with this, I shall be forced to leave.

Actually, I'm not likely to leave. I thought it was worth posting veiled threats for the benefit of anyone official who might have read it. I have now the complete and painless solution and don't see these distracting things any more!

I saw this adverts this morning too and believe me this is truly irritating and I just make sure to do not scroll my mouse on it to waste my time but just respond to discussions and go forward.

Ha ha! I use my mouse to help me read (shhhhh!). I have solved the problem once and for all now, though (until MyLot change the provider that does this annoying thing). I have added a line to my hosts file and now they are gone, vanished, done with!

That's the first thing I noticed this morning, and not just because someone else started a discussion on the same subject. Because of that other discussion, I found out about an add-on for Firefox that gets rid of them: Noscript. Unfortunately, it gets rid of other things, too. However, in their options, you can allow what you want, such as the mylot code.

Thanks, Barbara! I thought I had NoScript installed but I find I had disabled it. It's now running again and ... no annoying blue random words! You're a star! It seems that the phenomenon doesn't affect people using IE (or some, at least). I so rarely use IE that I have forgotten what settings there are. It's likely that some script blocking is built into it.

If you use Firefox and the noscript or adblock add ons, it should resolve the problem.

Now the problem is academic. Hopefully this discussion will help others with the same problem.

I see you're aware of the add on. So if you are, what's the problem?

I haven't run into this yet, but it would be very annoying. Often I think they get talked into new things that are not helpful.

I don't see anything wrong with Mylot trying to earn more money. They provide a service that helps people make money maybe they will use their new earnings to make Mylot better.

I just noticed this yesterday. It's a little annoying but not enough to let it get to me.

Yes owlwings I noticed that too. But, I let then stayed there as long it wants to stay there without even hovering my mouse on that. Well maybe mylot earns that pop-ups, maybe that pop-ups pay mylot a lot. Just leave them there, if that would be getting worst I would also leave mylot...take it easy friend...just cool down..
