Oh Great, ACORN gets to choose who will investigate them...

and who do they choose? Scott Harshbarger, the Democrat former Massachussetts lawyer who donated $2800 to the Obama presidential campaign. I know, why don't they team him up with Jamie Gorelick. The queen of conflicts of interest can coronate the new king. Next thing you know, they will be hiring Castro to investigate the human rights violations of Cuba. Please, Democrats, tell me you see the huge problem here.

Sorry Ted, I'm too tired of this crap to even feign surprise. I've honestly run out of sarcastic quips and everything else I might respond to this with. I can only point out that we'll get nothing but crickets from the left regarding this. Maybe someone will show up with a "Bush did it to" remark.

I think the fact that you're not American allows you to be on the left without following the party line of the democrats. You get a cookie for that.

It's what I've tried to explain to JB for years now (well, weeks maybe). Since you're not American--and nothing wrong with that; the UK is cool in my book--the idea of "liberal/left" is a bit different. In a political discussion concerning America, the term is used in a political context, and usually means an American progressive or social liberal or WORSE, especially in the context of showing that MSNBC-like support for President Obama. Not that it's always obvious but, at some point, it should be. As I've seen Ted write before, there shouldn't have to be a disclaimer on every single post.

They've tried independent investigators and look what happened - Gerald Walpin fingered Obama's good friend Kevin Johnson for misusing funds. You don't want to see something like that again, do you? This is ACORN's own independent internal audit. This is to try to avoid having a real investigation ordered by Congress. We need to push for a CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION.

This is a total white wash. What do you bet he will "find" nothing but isolated incidences and Congress will use that as reason to not bother further investigations.

Oh brother!! (AS in big brother.) - I'm shocked! But not surprised... It would be common sense 101 to assign non-partisan investigators, but I'm afraid common sense is in short supply. Some will even think this is a good and logical move. (Unless such a thing were dared to be done by the 'other' party! Why even less things would then make the headlines for weeks on end, til all the people are brainwashed.)

Did you honestly think it was going to be a "fair or complete" investigation? No. They are just going through the motions to make it look like they are doing something about the problem....without actually doing anything about the problem. At the end of it we will hear about how those were just "limited and isolated" experiences and how the problem has been fixded and ACORN gets its funding back without anyone REALLY investigating them. IT is all a big show. Hope you enjoy the performance. Because that is what it is.

So next time I speed in my car can I choose the cop who will pull me over? I'll take the one who gets his car fixed by my husband, who gets his car fixed for cheap by my husband and maybe next time gets it fixed for free, thanks.

have to agree (probably risking being banned by doing that) that this does not look very sensible. like, to paraphrase fishy there, getting exxon's ceo to investigate climate change. is there is any way to get a truly independent commission to investigate in your country?

Yes, there is, and it isn't that hard. First of all, don't let ACORN choose the investigator. Then go out and find a few investigators that don't have a horse in the race. Investigations are done every day, few of them have conflicts of interest. It's only CYA politics that makes it seem hard.

Is this not the way politics work??? Or should we go as far as to say life in general .One hand feeds the other.Nothing wrong with that is there ,I am assuming because ,I ventured into hot water that you are no Obama fan.Castro has shipped all his unwanted people over here way before we ever knew Obama existed. This I see as a huge problem, USA being the dumping ground of the world.

I think any investigation like this should be outsourced to an organization without anything to gain or lose; i.e. NONPARTISAN. It seems to be a theme in America today that Democrats are somehow the more trustworthy of the political parties and that the average liberal is more compassionate and virtuous than the average non-liberal. Here's what I know about ACORN. Yes, they have done some good work with disenfranchised people in the United States. But no, that does not excuse the recent uncovering of horrifically damaging behavior illustrated by various aspects of the organization and its employees. ACORN has proven itself to be a wholly partisan organization, working to effect social change, adhering to progressive ideology. For all intents and purposes, they're an extension of the Democratic Party. They take taxpayer money and they can be linked to the organization that WROTE THE STIMULUS BILL which was set to give them over 8 BILLION in additional funds. The ONLY conceivable reason I can see for a Democrat--an Obama-wagon-riding liberal--to be heading the investigation is so that a Democrat can control where it goes. Look, I don't know if ACORN will directly link to any politicians, much less Obama, or even if they're completely corrupt at the top of the organization, but this doesn't look good at all. It's like letting Al Gore go out to collect global warming data. Oh, wait. Too late on that one. lmao I don't want a Dem OR a Republican heading the investigation. They might not count, and the media certainly paints them as conservatives if they're not on board with liberal ideology, but the US has millions and millions of INDEPENDENT-thinking people. I'm sure a worthy investigator, unbeholden to a party, can be found to lead the way here.

How's this for ACORN links to Obama... "I've spent my entire adult life working with SEIU. I'm not a newcomer to this," Obama said. "I didn't suddenly discover SEIU on the campaign trail. Oh, y'all organize. You wear purple, do you?" he said, referring to the spirit color the SEIU has chosen." http://www.barackobama.com/2007/09/17/at_seiu_obama_rocked_the_house_1.php Obama gave ACORN front group Citizen Services Incorporated $800,000 for a "get out the vote" campaign. http://www.factcheck.org/imagefiles/Just%20the%20Facts%20Scripts/Episode42_FINAL.pdf "ACORN controls or significantly dominates several Big Labor unions and organizations. ACORN created and controls SEIU 100 (Gulf Region) and SEIU 880 (a recently expanded SEIU mega-local that covers Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, and Kansas). ACORN founder S. Wade Rathke referred to mega-union SEIU 880 as “one of the pillars of the ACORN Family.” http://biggovernment.com/2009/09/16/seiu-is-one-of-the-pillars-of-the-acorn-family/
