I am a college student who does some part time working on the side to make a few bucks to try and enjoy my college years. Recently I was let go of my job and now am on the open market looking for work. I must say this is the worst I can ever remember trying to look and to find a job. In my area there is an overabundance of jobs for CRNs, but that is about it. No one seems to be looking for employees to work. I've tried numerous sites such as monster, hot jobs, jobs in RI, government jobs, and pretty much any other job website you can find. Now I understand all I have is a high school diploma, but I am probably more qualified then most people. I have a great deal of experience working which includes a Mercedes Benz dealership and working with sexually abused adolescent kids. Because I am back in school I can't work a full time and need a part time job since school is my number one priority. My question to all of you out there is are other college students running into the same type of problem I am when it comes to looking for work? College students are usually poor anyway, but this adds to it. How are we suppose to go to college and better our lives when we can't afford it? If everyones goal is to get us into college then how are we suppose to be able to better our lives when we have to take car of car bills, insurance, cell phone bills, credit card bills, and other small bills that add up on top of paying our tuition. Where is our relief? What is this country doing for the future of tomorrow? They are quick to throw another loan in our pockets to pay for school, but not willing to give us lowered tuition for all our hard work. At my school I've made the Dean's List the last two semester and I still pay the same amount as someone who has skidded by with just C's. How fair is that? Seems like this country is getting less and less helpful to its people and looking more for its own personal gain. We need leaders who are going to help the problems not become part of it! I would like anyones take who has free time on how they feel about this subject that I have talked about.

i know exactly what you mean ive been looking for a job for 6 months and i am starting school this fall so it will be even harder to get a job with the hours im available. i have an 8 month old i have to take care of which is impossible to do without a job i swear it seems like she eats more then i do i have to buy food evry couple days. there are also alot of nurse jobs around here but im not a nurse so its no help any jobs that you can have with not much experience and no degree are already taken by other people who have lost their job or had to get one its really hard for alot of poeple right now but keep looking ahead and evrything will be fine.

I know, its just in this type of depressing economy you almost start to lose hope. I remember back in the 90's when gas was 89 cents, jobs where plentyful, and everyone had money to live comfortably. This Millenium so far has not brought us much of anything. Like you said, I guess the only thing to do is to keep looking for jobs and see what comes about. I really hope something comes up soon. I got schools to apply to when I transfer and I need cash to be able to pay for the application fees. It seems like everything is getting more expensive. Bring back the 90's!!!
