taking vit c is a waste

i heard from a friend that it is okay not to take vit c for supplements. she said that the vit. c we got from fruits are enough already for our body. when we take more this will not be absorb but will just be excreted. so taking it is just a waste of money.

I guess vit c supplements are also needed in our bodies since we can't get enough from fruits and veggies that we intake. They are called supplements to supply and add the needed dose of vitamin c for our bodies to act do well.

for me, it would still be better if we take vitamin c. it is not every single day that we eat fruits rich in vitamin c. besides, how would we know if our body had enough of this vitamin? as far as i know, vitamin c does no harm to our body even if taken in excess. thus, it is better to be in excess of vitamin C than not to be sure that you have enough of this vitamin especially that this is useful for the body's immunity

I have heard this before myself. But when I am sick, especially with a cold or sinuses, I seem to take a little extra vitamin C. Maybe it is all mental, but it seems to do the trick for me. I don't eat fruit often enough, although lately I have been eating more. But, either way, I don't see how a little extra vitamin C can't be helpful. I had a bad cold and sinus headaches back in July. I started drinking orange juice, eating chicken noodle soup, and taking extra vitamin C vitamins. It was gone in no time after that. Whereas, some people, who catch a cold, seem to take everything under the sun in the over the counter aisle at Wal-Mart and still keep it for a month at a time. So, I myself, would say to keep taking the vitamins, especially if you are sick!
