Just goes to show that people see and hear what they want to....

I like to watch Glenn Beck. Last evening he supposedly dropped a cute little frog in boiling water but said soon after that "....isn't real, ...... isn't real and that frog wasn't real, either!" I suspected it wasn't. A few minutes later he handed it to John Bolton and asked him to confirm that it was a fake frog.
The video was pretty seamless, a great job and would fool a lot of people if they didn't listen to the words that followed.
Even those that did watch, like the Christian Science Monitor, didn't HEAR what he was saying! His views are so unpopular that they look for any way to attack him. He even needs body guards, supposedly.
Do you listen or do you just hear what you wish? The voters in the U.S. have that affliction. I wish more people would listen to what they are hearing.

I have not watched Fox News because here you have to pay for it, but they got rid of the Fine Living channel, and since I already subscribed to Animal Planet, and the Health, Discovery, etc. and I sure did not want the Biography or sports channel, and also since i rather love Fox (Fringe and House fanatic, etc.) with its more balanced view, I subscribed to it. so I will be watching Glenn Beck more often and not just hear what the leftst press has to say about him.

I have been able to catch all of Fringe's episodes. It reminds me a little bit of the X files, but much better. I love the idea of an alternate universe or dimension where things are different but not quite. In fact I often wonder if the writers of the show made it on the premise that Fringe is sort of in an alternate universe then the one we are in. Makes you wonder.

Love Fringe, having recently discovered it, my daughter and I are playing catch up with season one on DVD.

Oh, I LOVE Fringe!! That's a really cool show and I've always loved science fiction and the weird stuff. Do you know about Warehouse 13? It's along those same lines.
Have you tried hulu.com or fancast.com? They have complete episodes of lots of shows although I don't know if these two are on it. I'm going to look and see.
House is a real hoot, one of my favorites!

Why did he feel it necessary to boil a fake frog? That sounds like when Ozzy Osbourne used to bite the heads off fake bats. But Ozzy was an entertainer, Beck is, at least allegedly, a journalist. What on earth was he trying to prove by such cheap theatrics? Can't he stick to dealing in reality? Pretty pathetic, if you ask me. I'd say I've lost respect for him...but I've never had respect for him to begin with.

Obama killed an actual living creature. Now, I'm totally anti-PETA, but you're complaining about a fake frog? Or are you just mad because you can't use a frog killing against Beck?
Beck has never called himself a journalist. In fact he's often stated he's not a journalist, but a commentator.

It was meant to illustrate the myth that you can put a frog in water and slowly turn up the heat to a boil and he won't jump out. This has been proven not true. But his point was that all at once the water (political climate) is boiling and we're not jumping out.

The poor dear NEEDS to have an excuse to hate Glenn Beck...and since he/she totally missed the point of the demonstration...has to find something mean to say about it.

I watched that show. I was a little surprised that he dropped a frog in the boiling water on tv. Then I thought holy crow PETA will have a ball with thet. Then.... I heard him say it was fake! I laughed so hard!!! I agree with you, if people would listen with their ears and not their mouths!

I would not put it past him to have been trying to make fools of the journalists! And it's so easy these days!

Ooh, that was clever of Glenn Beck. We get him a little late here, so maybe that episode will air this afternoon. He's growing on me. I used to think he was too dramatic and he'd lose me with all the kiddie games. He probably just needs some getting used to, lol.

You mean the blackboard? I need that! I like seeing all the dots connected in a concrete way and not a fancy slideshow presentation.
Yes, he's dramatic and he pulls a few stunts but when you're talking to people who, only a few months ago, had the attention span of a flea, you have to condition them slowly to listen once more and engage their survival instincts as they wake up their brains.

I didn't see it, but from what I've read here in your discussion it seems he was trying to make a point...being that the take over of our country didn't just begin with Obama's election. As for people believing what they want to believe...that's how it has been accomplished. People DON'T think for themselves. They're like that frog who doesn't see the flames under the pot, or even the pot he's put in. He sees only that he's in some nice soothing water...frogs like water you know. And after all...it's JUST water.

That's one reason I like this place. I see a lot of people here that are intelligent and actually investigate the claims people make, they listen and they hear. We should have that much attention and intelligence in the American population!

Before I answerjust letting you know that I dont know who Glenn Beck is, and I didnt see the show either, but the discussion about if people see and hear what they want to, I have t agree that this is completely and absolutely TRUE!.
As the fellow mylotter stated before, its not just in some situations but in most situations, and Im sorry to say, even in situations that are depended upon people needing to think for themselves and they dont. They just, follow or dont really LISTEN. Now that´s the key word.
Now, thi doest apply to that show, Im basing what Im saying because of my line of work. I have worked with people all my life in customer service type of jobs, either over the phone or in person, and not one day goes by were I dont deal with someone or someones to put it in that matter that dont listen at all.

I used to be in customer service, too, in person and on the phone and people just do NOT listen. Sometimes they hear only what they want and tune out the rest!

People are ignorant and stupid and just like jumping to conclusions without really even investigating something.

It's all about being the first to get the story and never mind the facts! We don't have true journalism anymore.

People believe what they want to believe. Even when they hear. I said to my daughter last night someone would say he really did boil a frog. You could tell it was fake the minute he dropped it into the cup after retrieving it. Anyone believing otherwise better never get caught eating lobster!

I don't eat lobster anymore now that I know they have to be boiled alive to avoid being poisonous. That's just too cruel for me to stomach.

Yes, look at the last presidential election. I hear a lot of people say they heard nothing other than the mantra "hope and change". Others heard a lot more.
