we always find chubby babies cute and always a bundle to carry and play with. but that is not an assurance for me that they are "A-ok" so i keep tabs of their schedule of visits to the doctor. because they look chubby and cute, are u assured that they are healthy and don't bring them to their regular doctor's visits but only when they feel ill?

The doctors are the ones who can say if the weight of the baby is a sign of being healthy or not... i know of some parents who were told to put their kids as young as 1 year old on a diet because they were too big for their age... so it is always wise to go to the doctor to ask for their professional opinion regarding the weight of the baby... My daughter is quite thin... but her pediatrician said that her weight is normal... considering the fact that my husband and i are both small in physical built...

yes, a doctor's say is the most important thing to me, too. sometimes we ask our friends or parents on how we care our babies but to me, the doc's word beats them all. happy weekend!

I have no idea what is the healthy or ideal weight for a babies or kids. For me, as long as the kids eat healthily, consider "A-Ok". My girl just went for her 2 years old vaccination yesterday, the doctor commented that her growing chart is showing upwards. Of course I am delighted with the news. I would continue in cooking more nice and healthy home made food for her. That's the least thing I could do to make her stay healthy.

All babies seem to be chubby at one point in their life...and for that age it might be okay for them to be a little chubby...it means they are getting all the nutrients they need (better than being too skinny right!?) As long as a parent with a chubby baby feeds them right, and makes sure as they are going up they continue to eat healthy things, by the time they are are old enough to talk they should start losing that 'baby fat' and start to get a more trim, healthy body.

Well, it is really nice to see children being chubby and fat. But from what I understand being fat for babies is not also good considering that it is still considered unhealthy. In other words, we may consider such as malnourished. We all though that only those that are thin are malnourished. But being to fat is also considered being malnourished.

hi sir, true, being fat and chubby is not always a guarantee that our children are healthy. people sometimes mistakenly connote that thing to them being healthier than the small, thin or averaged-weight children. it is always assuring to visit their doctor on regular schedules for the complete well-being of the children. happy weekend!

My son - taken during hols.
Hi there,For me, not all babies who are big and chubby were healthy and never get ill, they also catches those illness if we never give them proper food and vitamins. My son his 21 months old, his big on his age, his chubby chaps, but now he got fever, he catches those bugs on the air, even he has his food and vitamins. That' why i always keep an eye on him now and always give his medicine and vitamin C. Happy myloting.

hi rainmark, yes, being big and chubby do not always guarantee that they are healthy. it is always "mind-relaxing" for parents to be told by doctors that their babies are healthy by seeing him on the scheduled regular visits.
