Have you ever gotten paid for your scrap metal? Its worth it! Last year, My grandfather (whos an electrian) and I cleaned out all the extra pieces of wire he had in his shed and i stripped it. We took it to a scrap place and they paid us $2.50 a pound for the copper. We didn't do it all at once but of the course of 2 months we made $800 off of it. It's like finding money in your house. The value of copper has gone down but not much. The scrap yard we go to still pays around $2.00 - $2.25 per pound of copper if its stripped. Un-Stripped wire is worht $1.50 a pound and copper pipe is about $1.75. It is worth is. We were getting about $75 each per week. Just wanted to share that with you incase you needed a way to earn extra dough.

I cleaned up around my dad's place and hauled a trailer load to the recycle place. The thing that suprised me was I didn't have to sort it as to what type of metal it was. They weighed the trailer before and then after it was empty and went by the total weight. It came out to 1300 lbs, a little over 70 dollars worth.
