What one meal could you eat everyday?

For me it's simply plain chicken and rice. I don't know why, but I never tire of this combo. It is simple to make, easy to digest, and doesn't make me lethargic. I know it sounds boring, but is boring always bad? Don't get me wrong I love pizza, lasagna, burger and fries, and all sorts of other dishes, but I just can't consume these foods on a daily basis. That's why I'm going with baked chicken and rice. What about you? What would be the one meal you could eat everyday without getting sick of it?

I can do sandwiches. There are so many possibilities with them. They are easy to make and easy to eat and you can choose whatever you want to fill them with.

Turkey and swiss is good. I most often go with peanut butter and something else. Usually jelly, but honey or bananas are good substitutes too!

Good choice. I like a plain old turkey sandwich with swiss cheese. I also like to heat it up a bit in the microwave so the cheese melts. This is more of a lunch for me. I usually don't eat my sandwiches at night, unless there is nothing else available. What about you?

rice and noodles are staple food in our country so we can eat fried rice or noodle soup or stew would be fine. You can do many things with rice and noodles.

What country are you from? Rice and noodles sounds good to me. Is there any specific way you make the rice or is it just boiled. Don't you have a meat dish with your rice or noodles? I love to eat noodles at Chinese resteraunts but rarely prepare them myself. Maybe it's because I'm not that great of a cook.

Hi greatsasuke, I will never feel bored to take rice as my meal every day. We usually take plain rice together with three or more dishes. Most of our dishes we eat together with rice are various type of stir fried vegetable. We won't feel hungry very fast after taking the required amount of rice as meal Coconut milk rice is my favorite food that I usually take in the morning. We have to take considerable time to get it readied. So for the sake of convenience we usually buy them from the nearby market. We can choose the desirable dishes which are available there. I like curry chicken, spicy shrimp paste, boiled egg and peanut. Sometimes I pick the spicy mixed vegetable pickles or long bean plus prawn curry instead of curry chicken. Rice is really delicious. I feel content just taking a small plate of plain rice with a fried egg and some soy sauce added to it To have a change of taste, I usually would stir fry the rice with ingredients like green pea, raisin, chopped small pieces of onion, carrot, kidney bean and etc. Happy posting

I love all these styles of rice you have described. I love rice so much I can eat it plain, but I still have to have some chicken with it. I have never tried rice in the morning. Is the coconut milk rice a sweat dish? I would like to try it. Can you post a comment and give me the recipe. By the way what is the origin of the coconut rice dish?

I honestly can't think of one meal that I could eat every day and not get tired of it. I can say that I could eat chicken every single day, but it would have to be prepared in a different way. Like I could have barbequed chicken today and tomorrow I would have to have something like chicken casserole. Then there is parmesean chicken and baked chicken and chicken in a soup sauce. And, the sides that I had with the chicken would be different every day as well.

I am a big chicken fan too. I probably could eat bbq chicken everyday, though. Even if it is winter time I would just throw it in the George Foreman Griller and enjoy. I need a side dish, however, and rice works great for me. Do you like your chicken with a side dish or just by itself?

I always prepare sides to go with my main dish. We do like rice but also do potatoes some of the time as well for the starch. Additionally, I also really like to have a vegetable with every meal that I fix as well.

Adobo, rice and bagoong. I could eat this all day long, all week long. In contrast, my husband has to eat a different dish each mealtime. I'm nearly at my wits end trying to inject variety in my repertoire of meals at home. He can eat the same dish twice but not in succession. It can be baked potatoes and roast beef for lunch time today, but this will not be his dinner. It should be something else. He might agree to eat the left-overs tomorrow evening but not before. My life will be simpler (not a lot of left-overs) if only everyone would eat the same dish everyday or at least finish what's being eaten for the day.
27 Sep 09
I'm so sorry, I just assumed that you are from Asia. Anyway, adobo is a pork dish in the Philippines (my country of origin), cooked in garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper. Very easy to cook and tastes good (at least for me). You don't want to know bagoong. This is shrimp paste and except for Asians (the Thais have this as well), you probably won't be able to stand the stench of this. They are available in any oriental store should your curiosity get the better of you.

Please tell me what exactly is adobo and bagoong, and where it comes from. You have made me curious and now I have to try it. Do I have to make it or can I find it in a restaurant? About your husband, that is a difficult situation. I bet you have learned a lot of recipes, though. You probably are a good cook by now, as well.

One meal that I could eat everyday without ever getting sick of it is toast, eggs, and bacon. Absolutely delicious. I have it every weekend when I have time to cook an actual breakfast. In the morning when I have to go to work, I usually just end up with toast.

The great American breakfast. I think I could eat that meal quite often, as well. My favorite meal for breakfast is a huge six-egg western omelet. I know six eggs is a lot of eggs, but I wouldn't and couldn't eat it everyday. I also like it stuffed with all kinds of cheese. Man I'm getting hungry. Is it breakfast time yet? I think I could have these breakfast meals any time of the day. How about you?

Some sort of salad. I love raw veggies! And you can add so many different things to a salad every single time. Salad never gets boring, since you can create a different type every time.

I love your picture with your cat by the way. You are right. There are so many different varieties of salad that one can easily make a different salad every night of the week. For me, however, salad is a starter. I can't satisfy my hunger with just a salad. I need a main course, as well. What type of dressing do you like on your salad?

hi greatsasuke well with me it would have to be spaghetti and meatballs, but barelli plus spaghetti and italian meatballs, with a great barelli tomato sauce on it. that is so so' good its indescribable and so delicious, and I make it myself so its not too costly. barelli plus has a lot of extra protein and whole grains too. this does not raise my blood glucose either so its both good to eat and good for my health too.

That sounds like a great tasting meal. I really can't eat spaghetti every day. Don't get me wrong I do love spaghetti and meatballs, but it is just that I can only eat light foods, if I'm going to eat the same thing all the time. I could, however, probably eat pizza for a couple days in a row, as long as I have different toppings each day. Man the thought of pizza is making my mouth water right now. Maybe I'll pick up the phone and get some.

Do you mind if I take this recipe. I've never eaten chicken this way before. I'm going to try it. I'm sure I'll like it. Which spices do you fry it in? Also, what type of oil do you use to fry the chicken?

I like pasta. I like mashed potatoes. I don't think I could eat them everyday. What about pasta mixed with mashed potatoes? Just kidding. What kind of pasta do you like and what do you put on it? Do you put gravy or butter on your mashed potatoes. I like a meat dish to go along with my mashed potatoes. Preferably chicken. Oh how I love chicken...........

For dinner I would say lasagna. I'm never getting tired of that. The homemade lasagna is the best, but I found one in the store who is almost as good as the homemade. For breakfast I would say eggs and bacon I taste delicious, but I would look like a football if I eat it everyday.

You have given me an idea. I probably should have included what meal along with what dish in this discussion. People may have a few favorite dishes that coincide with breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I love eggs, as well. I usually eat 3 eggs in the morning, but if I'm really hungry I might eat 6. I don't recommend doing this everyday. Like you said, I would look like a football if I did so.

Crabs, shrimp nd rice. Delicious! I just love seafoods. I can eat it everyday.

Crabs mixed with shrimp. I don't know if I've ever had this combo. Probably not because I'm sure I would've remembered it if I did. When I eat seafood I usually do so from a resteraunt. My favorite seafood place, which I don't know if it still exists, is located in Key West, Florida. They had the best seafood buffet I've ever eaten at. I liked it so much that I stayed there for 4 hours stuffing myself. I didn't mix the crab and shrimp though. I pretty much stuck to the salmon.

Great question!! I liked your answer, ther is nothing wrong with a little chicken and rice. I don't know if this actually counts as a meal, but I think I could eat mexican food everyday. I seem to never get tired of it. Of course there is alot of variety to it, like tacos, enchiladas, burritos and such. If I had to pick just one food item that could eat everyday and not get tired of it, I would probably have to say cereal...I know that seems kinda lame, but that would be my answer.
• United States
30 Sep 09
No, that's not lame. In fact I would say I could eat cereal every morning myself. Although, I would probably change the brands every now and then. Mexican food is great. If I ate it every day, though, I think I would get heartburn or digestion problems. Do you eat homemade mexican food or do you order it from a restaraunt? My favorite mexican dish is enchiladas. I can eat about 6 of them at a go.

I have a creation that I find myself eating all the time. My husband likes it too and we eat it quite frequently. I fry up bacon any kind (we like the Applewood Bacon) I cut it up into chunks before frying. While it is frying I make the Pasta Roni Angel Hair pasta & Herbs, Chop up fresh mushrooms. After the bacon comes out drain off the grease and use the pan to fry the mushrooms. By then the Pasta is done add the Bacon, add the mushrooms, salt and pepper, And it is a great dish that hits the spot, you can add a salad and bread. It is a Great dish when you are tired of everything else and we do not eat fast food anymore. Adding things to it like peas, or broccoli, or olives, or even chopped tomatoes and that is what would make this one something I could eat everyday to make it different each time.

This sounds really good. I will use this recipe and make this meal sometime soon. Do you usually eat it for lunch or dinner? It sounds like a dinner dish to me. How do you think it would taste without the bacon? I am not a big bacon fan, but if you tell me it makes the meal, then I will use it. Anyway, it sounds really good. I probably couldn't eat it everyday since I prefer rice over pasta, but once a week is feasible.

Mac and cheese reminds me of my college days. This was a popular dish for me back then. I used to mix tuna fish in it. I know it sounds gross, but I needed my protein and tuna was quick and cheap. However, I could not eat that much mac and cheese and used to alternate it with ramen noodles, which was also quick and easy to make.

Haha...it's a interesting topic! I thought I never be tire of food made from potato. But it seems I'm not as crazy as before. But I think there is something that I never be tire. I think the answer is rice mixed with soy sauce. Yes, how crazy! Many people think soy sauce is too salty. And in China, people also think soy sauce will make our skin dark. But I really like it. No other food, just a bow of rice and a dish of soy sauce, that's enough! This is my favorite food from my childhood.

Rice and soy sauce. Simple yet satisfying. Sometimes these simple dishes seem to satisfy us the best. I am also a rice fan and you have given me an idea. Next time I have chicken and rice, I will mix soy sauce in the rice. I have never eaten soy sauce outside of a Chinese dish, but I will give it a try. I need the chicken, though. I love potatoes, as well, but like you I can't eat it everyday.

I think mine would be pizza. I love pizza and I am really crazy over them. It seems that I always have this craving for pizza and I never can get enough. If I have to choose only one food in my life, then the answer is clear... That would be pizza.

I love pizza as well. I save it, however, for the weekend. I don't think I can have it everyday. I tend to eat a lot of it and load it up with toppings. So you see it would be a problem if I ate pizza everyday. I would gain like 50 pounds! What type of pizza do you like? I love pineapple and ham pizza. I could probably eat it three times out of the week.

If there was one meal that I would eat everyday without ever becoming bored with it well, that would have to be spaghetti bolognese! I absolutely love the stuff and I generally have it at weekends on a Sunday. I just love the taste and it's definitely one of my favourite dishes. It fills you up quite fast and pasta is generally good for you anyhow. If I had to settle for something else then I would probably go for baked beans on toast, quick and easy and not much washing up afterwards! Andrew

Spaghetti is great! I love the taste too. Yet, I don't think I can eat it everyday. Like you said it fills you up. That is why I love chicken and rice because it doesn't give me that full feeling. I've never had baked beans on toast. Maybe I will try it someday. Does it give you a gassy feeling? If so, then I might not try it after all.

I am not that big of a fish fan. I know I couldn't eat it everyday. What type of fish do you like? Do you eat the same kind everyday? I do, however, like eating shellfish every now and then. My favorite is lobster and crab. I think fish is much healthier than chicken, but I just like the taste of chicken so much more. That is why I can eat it everyday.

We eat lots of chicken so I would have to say baked chicken, mash potatoes and white gravy and corn. I fix other things with baked chicken like a shell macoroni with a white cheddar sauce and salad but most of the time it is potatoes and white gravy.

Sounds good. I love mashed potatoes. I can't have it everyday, though, because it makes me feel bloated. The macaroni with the white cheddar sauce and salad sounds delicious. When I eat macaroni I don't usually eat it with meat. Macaroni fills me up pretty good, so I don't need to add anything else with it.
