If you are familiar with the Bible (as I know many of you are). Could you tell me your favorite quotes from the Bible regarding "fear"? My understanding is that we believe, we should not fear, because we trust that God will take care of us. But I know that despite that belief, many believer still experience fear. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

Hi miamilady, Many Christians are fearful even though the Bible says on hundreds of occasions, do not fear or words to that affect. For me the reason is quite clear, the church has preached fear since almost since its beginning and many are still doing so today. One of my favourite passages is found in the gospel of John, Chapter 14 and verse 27. Here Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid". If the Christian church had preached love, as Jesus did, and went on to practice it there would not be so many empty pews in the churches today. Instead they chose to preach fear and now people are beginning to see the truth. Jesus Christ was not religious, he was spiritual and taught a way of life. Blessings.

Thanks for your reply. I agree that too many churches focus more on fear than they should.

Hi.. Miamilady I just wan to share this verse to you this is one of my favorite verses in the bible it talks about fear. Isiah 441:10 "Fear thou not for I am with thee, Be not dismayed for I am thy God, I will strenghten thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" God is with us He's always there to help us we just have to trust in Him. Fear not little flock, for it is your Father's great pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32 I'm sure that deep in our hearts we believe the Bible says that we shouldn't fear, it's just that our minds continue to bombard us with thoughts like "what if?" especially when we are put into a difficult situation. Eventually, our faith takes control and the fear is gone.

I think its kind of open to interpretation, there is "worrying", which is a type of fear we shouldn't do than there is fear that can be like respect.

One of my favorite Biblical quotes regarding fear is from 2 Timothy 1:17 "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." The Scriptures are full of promises that God has made to us to make our life here on earth better. The problem is that too many of us either don't believe God, or don't think we're worthy of these gifts, or we just simply don't know about them because we don't search the Scriptures or no one is promoting them. We don't know what we're missing by not studying what God says in His Word.
