I started a discussion about the movie "Eye For An Eye" a few days ago which was a movie about a mother who took things into her own hands after her daughter was brutally murdered and our justice system didn't work for her. "Death Sentence" stars Kevin Bacon as a father whose son is also brutally and he also takes the law into his own hands.
The difference is, in the first movie justice is served and a grieving mother gets her revenge and "gets away with it" but it doesn't work out so well in the second one. I don't want to give too much away right away so did anyone else see "Death Sentence"? I should mention it also costarred Kelly Preston and I couldn't help but think about her enduring the loss of her son in real life recently as I watched her character learn of the loss of her fictional son in the movie. I would think that as she played that role she probably imagined herself in a similar situation never really believing it would happen! I mean, her son, Jet wasn't murdered but it was still a shock and a tragedy for her to endure.
Any thoughts?

I, too, have lost children and I'll tell you that everything that is remotely near the similarity of losing a child or about having a son that passes is a reminder. I think its a bit self punishing to do that to yourself in my opinion. However, maybe its therapeutic for her. They say everyone handles things differently. I would think that as long as it doesnt hurt her psychologically. She has to heal so she can raise her other child and have a great life. In order to have the quality of life your entitled, you need to face all demons mental, physical, and especially emotionally. I just hope she isnt punishing herself for not doing more. There was nothing more she could have done. As parents we blame ourselves for everything. Mother's love. dl
