How do you handle it? Do you just pass gas and ignore it? Do you say excuse me? Do you pass it off on someone else? What do you think about farts?

LOL nice topic. Guess it depends where you are. I'm the type that will make a loud scene when someone does it, just to embarass them. Just yesterday at the store, I walked down an aisle and someone had farted, and it was bad. I turned to my fiancee and really very loud said my gosh I think that guy that was just here sh*t himself, it reeks!!(he was at the end of the aisle) We went to this somewhat fancy/casual restaurant one night. Was packed, and they had the tables real close together. We had our small 2 seat table, and this bigger table was about 2 feet away, with this old guy's butt aimed right at us. First, I thought I heard it, but brushed it off. Then, we started smelling it. And he kept on doing it, and they were squeaky ones. I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. Finally, we just got fed up with that and the poor service & we got up to leave, and I announced to the man(whole room really lol) that he should make sure that the back blast area is clear before he rips any more farts, then we walked out laughing hysterically lol. My fiancee hates when I do that he gets so embarassed, but it's so funny lol. Serves them right for doing it in public! So, if you do do it in public, just beware and make sure I'm not around!!!

Ouch. I don't go out of my way to embarrass people in public and view farting as just a natural body function. I say excuse me if I do pass gas, but try to do it in a location that isn't going to stand up and take notice. I don't fart a lot, but my son does. I think farting has a lot to do with diet.

I agree, but there's a place for it. Sitting in a restaurant or crowded area is inappropriate and warrants embarassment in my book, otherwise find a more secluded area or a bathroom. Sorry :)

But, aren't you just calling attention to yourself by remarking on the fart in the first place, and placing blame on someone else? I always thik those who make a big deal of it are the ones who did it (unless I know it was me).

I agree. Farting is completely natural, and is your bodies way of expelling excess gas. It helps if you eat a diet that doesn't cause farting. My son has awful troubles with dairy and when he consumes dairy his farts could knock down a grown man. However, he thinks they're funny and asks people to rate them, but then he's just turned seven. If a grown adult asked me to rate their fart I think I'd look at them a bit askance!

I won't tell anyone if YOU don't. LOL! My son doesn't like the taste of lactaid milk. We use rice milk and pretty much avoid cow products all together. Not beef eaters either. You can get the generic lactase very inexpensively at Target and CVS. Walmart tends to be more expensive that both of those. Also, the single serve ones always cost more, and you can just as easily pop one or two into a pillcase.

ssshhh..don't tell anyone okay? but I have the same problem as your son. Lactaid milk helps out with that a bit, I don't know how much it costs where you are, but at walmart lactaid pills are fairly in expensive (cheaper than always buying lactaid milk) they help alot, jsut ask my family and friends. But it is a little embarrassing so don't tell anyone okay?

well you can handle it 2 ways, the silent killer is always popular, especially when your out with friends or family, you just swoosh them away a couple of yards, then when they ask 'whats that smell' you blame the old (wo)man looking at the prunes. Or you can make it a real loud one and blame it on some random person or own up to it. Now, um....these are just theories...never ever happened in real life....believe me.....women never fart. We just burp outta both ends :)

I had a relative (my ex's mom) who would not stay the night at any family member's home because she was afraid she would fart in her sleep. That's a bit extreme to me. She also insisted that women don't fart. She said they only pass wind, and that it smells pretty. yup! So pretty she was afraid of farting even in her sleep!
