we are very unfortunate that we were hit by a very strong storm (Ondoy) here in Metro Manila, Philippines. Metro Manila is a cluster of major cities in our contry's capital and since it is an urban area and has been hit by a typhoon, a lot of people have been affected . some villages who have never been flooded before are still waist deep in water/ mud. a lot of cars were floating like ice cubes, ..thousands of people were affected, about a hundred perished. but we were blessed enough bec the water in our house subsided after about five hours. we have managed to save a lot of stuff and it's safe to say that we are almost back to normal. it was a traumatizing experience indeed. but the first thing i worried about and saved were my books. how about you, what might you save first in a calamity? (but i hope no calamity happens to anyone!)

I am glad that you are okay! I guess I would get any pictures I had out, so at least I would have my memories. And then probably anything that my grandpa or grandma had given me would be next. Some things they handed down to me, that had been handed down to them.

it would be my certificates as my father used to say that if a fire starts then you should first of all make the certificates in the safe position as they are the educational qualifications of life of a person and if destroyed then getting a good job is very tough.

My daughter, husband and pets would of course be taken care of first, after that it would be my laptop, discs and photo albums; after that I would grab whatever I could but my computer and my photos and discs are irreplaceable. We are in Australia and after the terrible bushfires in Victoria earlier this year my husband and I discussed this very thing and we decided that almost everything can be replaced except lives and memories in pictures.

I think other than my household members and pets I would save pictures jewlery and the rug that my grandmother made. I just think there are so many things that I could possibly save but I think there are many things that I would like to save but I just wish that I could save man of them.
