article marketing!

Again sorry guys, I am sure this has been asked many times before. I am an affiliate marketer, and I keep hearing about using article marketing to promote their site. However, what is article marketing? How do you successfully article market? Also have any other recommendations as to how one can market/advertise for free or very very cheap? PLEASE HELP ME GUYS!

For me, one tiny method that has come a long way for me would be Twitter. It's easy, free to register and use and you can also add up friends with other articles and blog posts etc. It's a small way which can lead to a big way, if used wisely.
