Emergency landing experience

Everytime we board a ship or plane, the crew would rehearse the emergency procedures, this distinguish the unmindful frequent travellers from the attentive-listening first-time travellers. Anyone been in an emergency landing? I used to wonder what thrill is it like to fasten the life-jacket and slide down the inflatable ramp?

I haven't ever experienced an emergency landing I am glad to say. I know a lady that is terrified of flying because she had an emergency landing that really frightened her very much indeed. I know cabin crew have to practice fastening the life jacket and sliding down the ramp. They need to have the confidence and the knowledge to help passengers when a plane has an emergency landing. A flight was flying from South Africa to England but a passenger on board became really ill. So the plane landed in Nigeria and dropped off the man and his wife. He went to hospital there to be made better. Sometimes flights do have to land somewhere unexpected.

I had a close encounter once, it was November 1, which is considered by many Catholics as an unlucky day. We left the airport and flew back after a few minutes due to engine problems. I didn't noticed the problem but my cousin did. We were intially informed to reboard after an hour, but when it took even longer some passengers decided not to fly anymore and backed out. A few hours later we were told to board another plane. That was as close a call I got.

It would be interesting to join a flight-simulated plane crash safety workshop which is part of the training required for pilots and flight attendants.
