how many of you believes that ms access is a better tool than ms excel? i do. It's just that ms access is not very friendly, for me. i am not a techy person nor am i a techy person but i do my tech stuff, it's just that it really is hard to understand access. i want to utilize it and use it for our office database. However, i am having problems regarding combo box and the sort. if any of you could provide any information as to how i can use them, i would really really appreciate it. my problem: combo box 1: value 1 combo box 2: value 2 (based from value 1) combo box 3: value 3 (based from value 2) what i meant by based from the previous value is that the answers are filtered already that is suitable only for the category chosen. i have made it until the value 2 basing from value 1; but i cannot go further with value 3 because it just displays all the values in value 2 without filtering the one i got from value 1. hope you guys understood what i just said.

Well first off MS Access and MS Excel are two totally different programs with two very different purposes. While you can accomplish many things in Excel in convuluded ways that you can in Access. Once programmed, (might I add, if programmed well) Access can be much more sophisticated. Excel is meant for spreadsheet purposes, Access is meant for database purposes. While you can pull i nformation from Excel to create graphs and filtered reports from Excel. If you are dealing with alot of data, Access is a much better program. Even if it is a simple table to filter or report relationship. the solutions for your problem would be solved differently based on which program you were using. If you were using Access the information you pull should be able to come from your office database...what is your database in? Which program? If it is in access you can create queries to pull the information you need into a report. Once the query is written it would be a very easy step to just run the report and it would take the information that you are looking for. If it is a more intuitive form that you fill in some answer or box based on previous input then I would still suggest Access as you can use better drop down menus and tables and such. Might I suggest a very basic course in Access through continuing Ed or something...see if your company would pay for it as it is Totally worth the know how. If time and money are a consideration there are lots of free tutuorials and forums on the web to help you with your problem. Hope that was a bit helpful as to clarification on the two programs. In summary if you want to use a Database where you pull multiple types of info from I would highly recommend Access over Excel.
