Bhagavadgita As It Is is a work by A.C.BhaktiVedanta-Swami Prabhupada. I certainly have bought a copy of it in Hindi and English- more as a mark of respect to Lord Krishna than with a view to reading it in that form. While I do agree that His Holiness'word by word meanings and paraphrasing of Sanskrit are correct His rendering of the imoplied and other meanings are partisan, i.e. they are not the only ones that are possible, so I did not continue reading it. I like The Perennial Phislophy of the Bhagavad Gita as translated by Swami Rama for its closeness to the meaning of the original, and because it is more ~-ism neutral.

If you mean have you read Bahagavad Gita as it is- that is in its Sanskrit Original well I have several times, in that I can understand and apply the original Sanskrit work which is a conversation(samvaada) between Lord Krishna and Arjuna.

Getfastcash,I did not say I did not understand HH AC BVSPP, what I meant to convey was my views are not in line with HH. I am more impressed by -ism neutral view of Swami Rama. By -ismI meant like ViShNavism, Saivism, or Sankhya, Yoga etc., whereas AC BV S PP clearly promotes the KriShNa cult. I for one would like to be away from cult-like concepts. It goes against the grain of mainstream Hinduism. Since I know Sanskrit, I happened to note that HH AC BVSPP, was very correct as to paraphrasing of the shloka or giving the WBW meanings of the shlokas, but when it came to detailing he gives an -ism specific meaning! There are several ways of looking at the message of the Gita and in India several Acharyas have given the meaning of the Gita, as they have understood[not in a mere intellectual sense] it and of them I said I like such Acharyas' interpretations that do not promote a cult.

Hello GADHISUNU,Thanks for the comment. What I meant is reading of Bhagvatgita by A.C Bhaktivedanta swami prabhupaad. In this Kali yuga all have limited senses, limited intelligence, forgetfullness .so it is not possible to follow directly reading snaskrit verse and apply it.I didnt understand what you didnt understand in this book as it is clearly explained.Anybody understanding english will easily understand .Hare Krishna

I've read bits and pieces of the Bhagavad Gita and really enjoyed it. I'm not suer why I stopped reading it, but I think I should read some more of it some time. I'm not a Hindu, although I have immense respect for the Hindu religion and enjoy learning more about it.
