When I watched TV last night, a program related to Guiness World Record caught my eyes. A man tried to stay in a big glass container which is full of ice blocks for 90 minutes in order to break the 73-minute Record. During the whole process he only wore an underwear. I saw him trembling continuously. His daughter gazed at him tensely and his wife even had no courage to appear on the scene. Finally he broke the Record successfully and looked pretty well.
What do you think of such Guiness World Record? Do you think Guiness company should not set such Record for it may harm to human body? I'm expecting your opinions.

Yeah, I agree with you, Simon.
I think Guiness company should cancel some Records.
Some records, as you talked, they may hurt challengers' bodies. - It seems they are hurting themselves. - Even they can break the record, after training and practising for long, I think it's harmful for health.
Some records, I often getting from our medias, they are useless and silly in my opinion. Such as, how many couples holding wedding together, how many people gathering and having little lobsters at the same time, and so on. I think these kinds of records are just wasting money and boring! How weird that some of thme are organised by offical organization!
So I really wonder if these records are useful and meaningful!

Thank you for your response. I agree that some records are quite meaningless. I guess the reason why somebody organizes them is to catch the eyes of people. Then they may make profits by means of such popularity. But such popularity should not be acquired at the cost of health. And such Records have a negative influence on those young children.

You're right about dangerous act in attempt to create or break a record. Some people want to carve their name in a written piece of paper so they hardly care about anything. Some do that for satisfaction. I don't really understand how people mind work. I think some record aren't true. Let face it, some become record holder probably because a better person than that doesn't bother for approval. He/she probably can do it 10 times better. There's always a better person that us in this world. No offense~~~

Guiness company set the book of World Records in order to attract the attention of people. It doesn't care whether the record is meaningful or not. Sometimes it is more likely to set some strange World Records to cater for the curiosity of people. Remember that Guiness is a commercial company, not a research institute.

I think it's pretty neat although I've not looked at one for a long time. I agree with what you are saying. I don't think anyone should risk harming their body for the sake of being in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Thank you for your response. I totally understand those people who wish to become popular by breaking Guinness World Records. They could earn a lot of money as soon as they break the Records. But the government should consider the negative influence of such Records, especially to the children.
