Wash your Pillows

On Doctor Oz today he talked about Pillows and how dust mites are in the pillows. They eat our dead skin then poop after eating our skin. Wash the pillows then dry them in the dryer on the hottest temperature that you can in order to get rid of them. Dust Mites can cause allergies. Also our mattress after 10 years will weigh more then when we brought it due to the bugs, our sweat and our dead skin. We should buy covers for the mattress and pillows. These covers will suffocate the bugs. The covers are washable. I wash my pillows about every 5 to 6 months. Now I think I will try and wash them every 3 months.

lelin yes I sure knew about that and isnt it so disgusting 'to think we sleep on that stuff.I am allergic to dust mites 'and to dust. the only time I slept without being stuffed up was when I was ill in the hospital which really told me something about getting rid of the dust mites. Now I am here in this retirement center and again have the same problem.

Oh that is terrible! Have you suggested to anyone that the pillows need to be washed and the beds at least vacuumed and turned over at least once a month?

that's sounds scary, but actually I do wash all my pillows every 2 months. I can't stand the smell of sweat. LOL. It's good to know Lelin!

Yes you learn alot from Doctor Oz's show. I always wash the pillow but after hearing about the dust mites I started stripping all the beds. My daughter thought I had gone mad. When I told her she couldn't believe it.

what great advice. since i have asthma, i have been told that i should be changing my bed linens every day (uh, sorry, not going to happen...i am just way too busy!) but i do change them at least once a week and try to do that with pillows and blankets as often as i can.

That is very good advice. I also like to hang mine on the line on a real hot windy day & let them get some fresh air.

I would love to do that but in New Mexico with the wind we have to much dirt and sand blowing in the wind. It won't be good for the pillows. Thanks for responding.
